All standard fuel pump testing applies, The answer to your question is yes a hard blow can take out a fuel pump that is marginal physically.

The key is how much damage does the car have? This is important as it could have damaged the wiring to the pump. Also does this car have a fuel pump shut off impact switch that was simply delayed in activating? These are usually located in the trunk. Start with the owners manual to see if has one of these switches.

Think you have knocked out the safety switch and it needs resetting to start vehicle,Dont know where this is on this vehicle though but it could be in the boot or under the bonnet but some vehicles have them behind the centre pillar cover or in the front footwell,it should be a smallish square thing with a red rubber cover ,just push the rubber cover down and it should click back on

If a vehicle shuts off while driving down the road. then restarts after about 10 minutes, its a bad crank sensor or the wiring to the sensor. A check engine light may not turn on. If the light is on. You can take it to any auto parts store to have the code read by a scanner for free. Auto-zone, Advanced ETC. Its worth a try! But first check the fuel pump relay, It may be getting hot and shutting down pump. Try swapping a relay of the same type, if it is ok, thats the problem. Hope this helps!

Can a rear in collission cause a car to shut down

Yes it can. There is a fuel pump shut down switch that interrupts the power to the fuel pump. When you are hit in a crash, it shuts down the gas to avoid a fire if there is a leak.

Car starts but when i give gas it dies on me

your engine's starving for fuel. your fuel pump may be bad. if your engine starts ok and it only idles fine, the fuel pump pressure may not be correct. the fuel pump pressure should be around 180lbs to the motor.a bad fuel pump can either quit pumping,or it may only pump just enough to start the engine, but not produce enough fuel to run it down the road.the fuel pumps located inside the gas tank under the car. most shops guage the price of removal and replacement of the fuel pump on how much fuels in the gas tank, the more fuel, the heavier the gas tank. a full gas tank can be super heavy and hard to handle under the vehicle. suggest that you call around local shops for a price of replacement fuel pump.also call local parts places such as auto zone or advance auto parts for prices of the fuel pump, that way you can guage the price of the pump against the labor the shops charge you. hope this helps and thank you for choosing

I was just driving down the road an it just shut off no sign o sputers, the fuel pumps workin. just wont start

manufacturer decided they wanted a unique system of fuel injection, at least different then that of most systems. The control valve may act up and not allow fuel to inject at intervals. Instead, it may take be clogged with debri, gunk, and other trash which needs to be serviced in a shop to be repaired. One very common activity with your fuel injector is it may cause the valve to stay closed and burn gas in a manner that is inconsistent with normal gas usage, the vehicle will start to blow out black and dark smoke out the rear end, trick your cars oxygen sensor, and allow the system to burn a larger amount of fuel for the same mileage. This problem needs to be solved in a shop where the equipment is available to make adjustments and flush out your system.

Is a check valve in the fuel line to keep fuel after shut down

Hello. The fuel gets to the engine because it is pumped there by the fuel pump to the carburretor. The most likely cause of your problem is a gummed up carburetor. Get a couple bottles of a carburetor cleaner called Seafoam at any auto parts store. Follow the directions on the can as far as how much to add to your fuel tank. Run the car for a few miles and your problem will clear up.
