94 T-Bird - Passenger side window

I've been having problems with my passenger side window, I can't roll it up or down. If you press the button you hear the motor trying to go but the window doesn't go anywhere, just clicks. If you push the button down and drag the window up or down with your hand it will go, but not on it's own. I got the panel off, but can't figure out how to fix the window. I thought it would be an easy fix but I can't even understand what I'm looking at when I get the panel off. When you try to roll it up or down you hear it trying to work but only goes up or down if you push or pull on the window itself. Any ideas?

Can you see the window assembly.. you should be able to see the gears for the window crank as it sounds like the gears are stripping... You should be able to get to the bolts that are holding the window assembly to the door.

Hi Kimberli,

I suspect that since all windows can be powered up and down, you have issues with I believe 2 specific switches you mentioned that have problems - as a result of possible rain water, melting snow / ice or spillage of beverages. You might be able to clean them up - or replace the ones that are "flaky"

Good luck!

Passenger window wont roll down with either switch but motor is good and getting power

New switch for the passenger side. The drivers side switch may be wired through the passengers side switch witch will make it not work if the passengers side switch is bad. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Need to get a wiring diagram. Buy a book and follow the wiring schematic. It should help you out majorly. Can't really work on electrical issues without one.

Passenger side power window wont roll up

The problem may be in the wiring which if you pull up the carpet on the front passenger side by removing the door floor trim and lifting the carpet you will see the wiring underneath. Probably laying in water or has been. Look for splices in the wiring which will have corroded. Repair the wiring then check the fuse.
Another problem may be in the motor found inside the door. The brushes may have worn out. If so you need to replace the motor. Ususally the drivers side will fail first since it is the most used.
