2000 Suzuki Grand Vitera, suspension makes a loudcracking noise

I have a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitera. When I make quick turns or go over big bumps and such, there will be a loud cracking noise that can be felt throughout the whole car. I think it's coming from the suspension, but not entirely sure. It happens especially when I pull into the alley behind my house, where the entrance is a quick sharp incline and then sharp decline. Thanks in advance for your help and if you have any questions about the problem feel free to ask.

I looked at the sway bar and it looks intact. The links are real rusty but seem to be ok. The bar is a little loose at the links, but I'm not sure if its supposed to be or not. How tight is the bar supposed to be?

Had a similar problem; it was the sway bar that was broken. Repair was inexpensive...about $80.

1997 jeep grand ch. has a clunking noise. when i turn the steering wheel. the noise sounds like a flat tire but louder.what could it be?

There is something wrong with one of your tires. Take it to a tire repair place soon before it leaves you stranded. My guess: a tire has a big lump on it which will blow soon.

I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee have replaced the steering rack, inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, and quick struts but i still have a metal on metal popping noise around turns,

05 GC, but what drive line, what engine, what transmission, what transfer case. and evne more important where is the 4wd lever set?
does it make noise in all gears, all transfer case MODES????

sure , buy and electronic stethoscope
like this,
http://www.amazon.com/Steelman-97220-EngineEAR-Diagnostic-Listening/dp/B00396FBRY/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414326169&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=automotive+electronic+stethoscope+steelman

you clamp the mike to many drive line parts.
transmission, quite at POP time.
transfercase quite?
then move the MIKE to the suspension parts.
you will find it.

thats a lot cash to spend guessing. the tool works like magic
it will show you (heard) what is making noise.
if it cant find the noise, 99%^ its U-joints, after all i can not
clamp the MIKE to drive/prop shafts. .
but that is a big clue,

have you tried spraying all suspension joints with silicon oil spray.
that would be first. way before parts.
are you in the salt belt????? google that.

Last, what 4wd you have, options?
Quadra-Trac-II NV 247
Quadra-Drive NV247

more testing
if you shift the xfr case to neutral just before a bump does it still make noise?
then repeat that for transmission , neutral.
do the tests off road, or far from other cars, and peds.
repeat the test in 2wd selection,
seen here. (im assuming this is what you have, its unstated)(

ps: noise is the most complex problem
it is also very dangerous on cars that only make noise moving.
use a stethoscope. and find this easy an safely.
use real headphones(muffs)
and 2 persons, one drives other listens and barks orders.
win.

My 2000 Honda Odyssey (240k) made a loud clank noise when I went slowly over a speed bump. Now, when I turn the wheel-- either driving slowly or in park-- I hear and feel two or three rubbing or snapping...

The Hondas do have at the back suspension arms which are holding the wheels,Big suspension bushing, which when they snap off or cracked, are causing clank noises because are not holding enough the rear axle. on the other hand the vehicle loose the tracking as a result to cause wear and tear of the rear tires as well. Ask from your local mechanic to examine your car.

Steering wanders

Mr. Craigie, The front suspension of the grand Vitara has low Suspension with Lower Wishbones mounted on rubber mountings which mostly the rear round mounting rubber splits. Since you said that you hit a bump ,check carefully the rubber mounting. Also check the shock Absorber on both front sides and see whether if any one seized.

Loud knocking noise in rear when going over rough patches in parking lot or road.

well other than suspension components the only thing i can think of is a really toasted wheel bearing, or a loose spare tire, gas tank mount or busted weld on the unibody

My buddy has a 2001 suzuki grand vitera and is

Does he need a transmission belt or a drive belt..? If a drive belt, it may be that he needs to replace the Camshaft drive belt. This should be undertaken at the intervals according to the manual. If he has a warning lamp which is on, replacing the belt will not put this lamp out, to extinguish that lamp, you need to undertake the correct procedure, try asking a dealership as each manufacturer has different methods of turning the warning lamp off and resetting it for the next replacement interval.. As too a transmission belt, I have not heard of this being required in a vehicle of this age..

Noise from suspension

I would check all your suspension pieces to make sure they are tight like radius arms, steering damper, pitman on the steering box, traction bar, shocks, etc. This might be a hard one to diagnose without sitting in the seat with you. You might have a garage or alignment shop give it a quick once over and let you know.

I hit a bump on the right front side and it makes a roaring type noise and shimmies a bit .. can feel it under my left foot. also at times it will make that soud when i make a right hand turn... it is ...

Sounds like your left front wheel bearing is going bad. When you make a right turn, or compress the right front suspension over a bump, it forces the car to roll to the left. This loads the suspension on the left side, which will exaggerate a wheel bearing problem. Are you hearing the noise at all when travelling on the highway in a straight line? If so, it'd be either a grinding sound or a hollow humming noise. If you aren't, it may be that the bearing is just starting to go bad.

A quick test to see if the bearing is bad is to jack the car up at that corner, grab the wheel at the top and bottom, and shake it hard - if there is any movement or looseness, your bearing is shot. If there is none, it doesn't mean the bearing is fine, but it could be that it's just starting to go bad (which would be why you only hear it in turns and bumps, but not straight-line yet).
