Question about 2000 Ford F150 Flareside SuperCab

2000 F150 4.6l

Fuel pump was replaced 2000 miles ago,it was quiet when installed, but now sings really loud,it gets quieter when you come to a stop and the gas splashes against the pump, and when you accelerate hard it bogs down and takes a long time to get from 30 mph to 55 mph. What im looking for is a second opinion,i think i know the problem and if they are related.I think its a faulty fuel pump and not getting enough pressure.Any ideas?

Why is it loud while accelerating, then when I get to desired speed it quiets down?

It's loud when it's working hard and quieter when there's less load on the engine. That said, it doesn't explain what's happening. Everything I can think of, like torque converter, probably needs looking at by a specialist. It might be best to take it to one.

Re 2000 chevy express van (cutaway chassis with camper built on it) .. how often does the fuel filter really need replacing and is there really no way to do it besides dropping the gas tank and risk...

the fuel filter should be on the drivers side under the van in between the fuel tank and the motor. Usually about where the transmission is on a 2000. It is not in the fuel tank.

If you change the filter every 30-36 thousand miles you will get the most life out of you pump. Most of them fail around the 100,000 mile mark when the filters have never been changed. I have seen them go as long as 300,000 miles with regular filter changes.

$8 for a filter, $300 for a pump. you can buy a lot of filters for $300!
