Air conditioning sometimes works very well, but only for short periods of time. On very hot days it hardly functions for more than a few minutes. I think it does better at higher speeds like on the Interstate. Stop and start driving in town seems to negatively effect functioning.

Check the cooling fans and air flow through radiator,,,,ensure there is no plastic bag stuck over the radiator and look in between the radiator and condenser as those can find their way inside that very small distance between the radiator and a/c condenser. Fans and airflow is a must.

I have a 91 Town Car that I am trying to figure out why my Automatic Climate Control Panel is not functioning properly. The air will be cold and when I make a right turn the air starts blowing hot.

The blend door may have broke and is just moving around freely. See if you can control it hot to cold. If you can't the door is broken or became disconnected from the accutator.

The hot air from the vents begins to cool down when the vehicle is stopped or slows down.

sounds like a possible plugged heater core, restricting the flow of coolant. those require a special tool to remove, quick disconnect, just remove both hose from the heater core and back flush the heater core with a garden hose, NOTICE DO NOT DO THIS WHILE HOT IT WILL BURN YOU, this can make a mess, flush it both ways untill it flows clean and with even pressure, then refill the coolant and road test the vehicle to see if is changed.

What does the ESC light on my Hyundai entourage mean? what does the acronym even stand for?

Your owner's manual says = Electronic Stability Control. Optimum driving safety now has a name : ESC, the Electronic Stability Control. ESC recognizes critical driving conditions, such as panic reactions in dangerous situations, and stabilizes the vehicle by wheel-individual braking and engine control intervention with no needfor actuating the brake or the gas pedal. ESC adds a further function known as Active Yaw Control (AYC) to the ABS, TCS, EBD and ESC functions. Whereas the ABS/TCS function controls wheel slip during braking and acceleration and, thus, mainly intervenes in the longitudinal dynamics of the vehicle, active yaw control stabilizes the vehicle about its vertical axis. This is achieved by wheel individual brake intervention and adaptation of the momentary engine torque with no need for any action to be taken by the driver. ESC essentially consists of three assemblies : the sensors, the electronic control unit and the actuators. Of course, the stability control feature works under all driving and operating conditions. Under certain driving conditions, the ABS/TCS function can be activated simultaneously with the ESC function in response to a command by the driver. In the event of a failure of the stability control function, the basic safety function, ABS, is still maintained.

I have a 1991 300zx non turbo and my fan will sometimes randomly go on and off. My fan just started working fine for about 4 days, it would blow more air as i accelerated( I did not do this for a before)....

hmm, does that year model have a secondary electric fan? I also wonder have you changed the thermostat? and is you car one that the cooling system has to have the air bleeded out if you cold fill? A bad thermostat that may not be opening all the way could cause your car to run war/hot as could a clogged radiator. the worst case would be if it ran hot enough you could have a leaking head gasket that will put "air" into you cooling system and cause the thermostat to not function properly....or if the cooling system is not bled then that would also cause an air pocket....sorry a few possible answers there....

Air condition not blowing cold air

Is any air coming out at all?

If warm air is being blown out, then your refrigerant level is probably low. The car is fitted with a safety cut off, to stop the air conditioning system working if the refrigerant (R134a) level is low.

This cut off only effects the air conditioning, the blower would still function normally.

Intermittent A/C Problem

You have several possiblities:

Your condensor fan is not coming on. This is an easy check. Turn off the A/C. Have someone turn on the engine, then have them engage the A/C, while you watch/listen for the condensor fan to engage. If it does not come on, then you need to replace it (this is somewhat common). I would check this first.

You have a faulty A/C pressure sensor or A/C pressure sensor circuit.

You have a faulty air conditioning clutch coil (not energizing or engaging air conditioning clutch).

These could be aggrevated by warmer temps. Many circuits will function properly when cool, but not when hot.

A lesser possibility would be to check the tension of your drive belt (it turns the A/C). When warm it could be slipping.

Brian
