Surging and stalling

Car starts when cold. When press on accelerator when cold, it tries to cut off. It will idle but surge the whole time. Once warm, it still surges. When driving down the road, it has cut off and then will not start back. did have a p0102 code and so we replaced the MAF sensor. Still same problem. Have done a tune up including spark plugs, fuel filter, and oil change. when car quits running, it sometimes will not start back. when we let the pressure out of the fuel rail, it then starts back and then starts again. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: surging while driving

there is a broken or diconected vacuum pipe, you can listen for air leakage with engine running and hood open, push pipes and note difference, goodluck.

SOURCE: 84 Fiero. trouble starting and runs rough and the surges/stalls

It sounds like a fuel pump. Check the fuel pressure. What size engine?

SOURCE: Why is my Grand Prix surging/stalling when ideling?

If you did not disconnect the battery and drain the voltage from the ECM, it could be using old settings when the problem existed.
When a problem occurs, the computer tries to correct it or find new settings to work around the problem. When you fix a problem you have to clear the codes and sometimes erase the memory from the computer to allow it to start back at the factory settings.
When you disconnect something and the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into limp mode and uses values for the sensors preset by the factory. The car will almost always run rich to ensure the driver can get back to a place for repairs.

1990 Mazda 626 Car starts, idles and runs very well when cold however whwn its hot the car is hard to start and stalls. So far the idlde air cotrol valve and mass air sensor have been replaced . Each...

Honestly sounds like the throttle position sensor, if the car is cold it will be choked and thus the throttle body flap almost closed easy to crank, more fuel less air.... when the air warms it moves the throttles actual flap opening wider, thus more air less fuel and harder starting, not as much fuel to combust and if the computer cannot sense the correct position, it will cause acceleration hesitating, poor idle, and what is called stumbling, where you press the gas and it kind of sounds like the motor sputters for a second and then goes or the occasional surging if at highway speed of say 60 mph and you feel the car kinda speed up mile or 2 and then back to the original speed.

My 93 nissan p/u had that issue, but the tps was replaced and it takes 2-3 revolutions on the motor and it's running smooth, hot or cold.

Hope this helps.

High low idle, rough idle stalling

If it's surging, make sure your radiator is full. Do a tune up, plugs, wires, etc. Put some fuel injector cleaner in your fuel tank. On a cold start the vehicle compensates for being cold by adding fuel. Once it warms up the computer tells it to quit adding extra fuel. If it is a bad sensor of sorts, check engine light should come on.

the compressor that pumps up the air suspension does make a horrid noise, and if you can turn it off, like I could in my crown vic, just long enough to see if that is indeed the compressor making the noise you hear, then try that. My switch was located in the trunk.

4 cyl Engine starts and idles ok...give it throttle and it dies

I need to get a clear mental picture of what exactly is happening.

With this said, you stated that the car "runs fine" until warmed up.

Q: When you start the car when cold it idles fine?
Q: If you allow the car to idle until "fully" warmed does the car stall?
Q: As the car begins to warm up, Does the RPM fluctuate abnormally?
Q: Does the car Only stall when you press on the gas pedal or does it stall just sitting and idling in addition to pressing the gas pedal?
Q: If you can drive it while cold does the car stall during acceleration when warm or only at Stop Signs / Lights?
Q: If you wait 20min or so, can you start the car again?
Q: How many miles are on the car?

Power surging

Try cleaning the idle speed control airbypass valve, they get sludged up and cause this kind of idle problem.
