I dont think it is the lock cylinder, see someone stole my keys and i didnt have a spare so I went to the dealership and they cut me a new set. However they let me unlock the doors but not get the car to start.

Do you have the old one. The new one must be cut wrong. Or you have a bad lock cylinder.

If they cut the key by key codes and the vin number sometimes this doesn't work. Do you know if your vehicle has SENTRY KEY. The head of the key will be gray instead of black.

How toprogramm car key toyota matrix

  • 1 First you will need to purchase a blank Toyota transponder key. You can do this from the dealership, a locksmith, or an online source such as eBay. Once you have the key, take the blank key and the master key to a locksmith that he or she can duplicate the key. This will be much cheaper than the dealership.
  • 2 Now that you have the newly cut key and the master key, you can program the Toyota transponder key. Sit in the driver's side of the Toyota vehicle. Press and release the brake and gas pedal simultaneously.
  • 3 Insert the master transponder key. Do not turn it. Push and release the gas pedal 5 times within at least 15 seconds of inserting the master key.
  • 4 Press and release the brake pedal 6 times within 20 seconds of completing step 3, then remove the master transponder key.
  • 5 Insert the newly cut transponder key into the ignition, but do not turn. Press the gas pedal once.
  • 6 Wait up to 2 minutes or whenever the security light on the dashboard turns off. Once the light goes off, remove the new transponder key and press the brake pedal once. The new transponder key should now be programmed. Test the key by attempting to start the engine. If the engine does not start, repeat the steps above.

Changed ignition and door locks and now my hyundai sonata wont start

Your original keys had a computer chip in them that is programed to your car's computer and you will have to have a dealership reprogram your new keys to match your car's computer. or if you still have the original ignition lock you can reinstall it and contact your local dealership and give them your car's Vin# which is located on title or vehicle registration. And most dealerships can make you a new ignition key. Then your car should sta

I have a 2001 blazer stopped at the sitters and came out and nothing. All lights radio and dinger works does not even go dim. I replaced the starter and same thing. Can get the starter to work manually but...

This is most likely the Anti Theft Security system shutting down the starter. Gm vehicles have had this problem since the 80's. Your key is not just a key, it also has a chip in the shaft or a transponder in the head. This Communicates with the ignition/ lock cylinder. This then communicates with the TDM (Theft Deterrent Module) which then ALLOWS the ignition to start the vehicle. Any communication break, and the vehicle wont start at the key/ignition.
