could be a security problem with your key.

in old astro vans the key has a code it sends to the PCM and Key Reader. if the Reader thinks the key is fake it wont turn the car on. if the PCM thinks it'f fake it will start the car then shut if off.

Redbeard00 could be on the right track...an aftermarket security system or a passlock bypass,( for a remote starter), would have to be reprogrammed to match any new passlock learned settings. Just experienced this myself,( previous owner had a bypass installed and I didn't know about it untill digging around in the underdash wiring looking for a convenient place to test the signal coming from the keylock tumbler. simply removing it did the trick)!!

When your theft deterrent module gives you problems.try using another key the other key could be worn. if the other key does the same thing .the dealership.will replace the theft deterrent module.with new keys.and reprogram it.its not a home fix.and it is little expensive.

It honestly sounds like a defective ignition switch. Is the security system factory or aftermarket.

1996 4.3 wont start. Turns over, Spark OK, fuel 55psi

Fuel pressure is a little low. Will it start with a couple shots of carb spray in the throttle body? If it does and continues to run than the fuel pump is not providing enough pressure to to open the mechanical poppet valves on the end of the injectors. minimum fuel pressure is 58 psi. One PSI below spec is enough to make it not start.

Also check to make sure there is spark at each cylinder. just because there is spark at the ignition coil does not mean it is getting the the spark plugs. you may have a bad cap or a rotor that is burned through.

I HAVE A2000 ASTRO VAN IT QUIT WHILE DRIVING. I TRIED TO START BACK BUT BATTERY WENT DEAD, SO I GOT A BOOST, IT WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. I GOT BATTERY TESTED IT WAS NOT HOLDING ENOUGH CRANKING AMPS SO I...

The fuel pump pressure shoud be 55-61 psi . Check for spark by removing a ignition wire at a spark plug and put a spark plug in wire and hold to engine ground and crank engine , if no spark then remove coil wire at cap and repeat. If still no spark then coil , module,,crank sensor or pickup may be the problem.
Check fuel pump pressure first and if available check for codes for possible crank sensor.

Went to a store came back out would not start but strong battery,im tinking fuel pump dont know alot about car only had it a week

stand outside your van, reach in the window and turn your key over, but not to the start position. you should hear a whirring sound from the rear of the van and it should last about 2-3 sec. this will be your fuel pump powering up. if you dont hear it,then you have a bad fuel pump. Dodge Caravans from 96-01 are VERY bad about eating fuel pumps. if the pump is fine, have someone try to start it while you look under hood and see if injectors are spraying fuel. if the pump is good, and you have no spray from the injector, then you have a clogged fuel filter which will need replaced.

2005 no start astro van how to check if fuel pump is bad.

Open the hood ,remove the air box for the engine but leave the mass air flow sensor on.Get some carb cleaner and spray it in the air intake tube while someone tries to start the van and if it fires and runs on the cleaner it is defanetly a fuel issue and most likely the fuel pump.If you have a fuel pressure gague you can remove the engine cover inside the van and connect to the fuel pressure port to see what u have for fuel pressure which should be between 55-65 psi to run.

Van died while driving, was able to get started back up 1x

first thing is to check for fuel, if you spary starting fluid in throtlebody will it start?. if it does then its mostlikly a fuel pump, if not then the next thing is to check for spark, remove a plug wire and spin engine does it spark, yes then it a fuel problem, if no then may be a crank sensor or a coil or module, but most of these have bad fuelpumps so start with the fuel test. hope this helps.

98 astro van starts and dies immediately. Spark OK, fuel 55 psi

does it rev up when it does start?pull out the mass air flow sensor(big nut with electrical plug in the middle,)spray the inside part(looks like an arrow head with a spring behind it)with carb cleaner and try it again,be very careful because they break really easy...does it sound normal when it starts then dies right away?then its posible the injectors arent spraying correctly due to dirty injectors or bad fuel regulator getting either/or too much fuel or not enough

93 astro van turns over has juice but wont fire

a real quick way to test your fuel pump is to take a rubber mallet and have some one crank the engine while you beat on the bottom of the gas tank if your vehicle starts you have a bad fuel pump and it should be removed and replaced with a new one,

1994 chevy astro van awd

underneth the intake manold is were your fuel injector poppet nozzles are, more than likely the fuel line hose that goes thru the back of the intake is split and leaking fuel underneth the intake manifold if you check the fuel pressure you will find that the fuel pressure will drop down to 0 psi as soon as the fuel pump shuts off and it should hold pressure
