This happened to me also, it's a sensor. The throttle sensor, it's next to the manifold sensor. Very easy fix cost around $60 bucks. It's common in 01 Durangos...

SOURCE: loacte the fuel filter on 2000 dodge durango 4.7 liter v8

if i am not mistaken the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump. which requires you to drop the tank and replace both.

2001 dodge durango stall while driving

Try running a fuel injector cleaning additive in your gas. Buy at Pep Boyz or other auto parts house. It's almost certainly a fuel delivery issue, not electrical. But check battery cables anyway and make sure they're tight on their posts. A loose cable will stall you too.

Stalls while driving

Can you be more specific does it happen only on the highway what is the speed is it when accelerating does it happen on other roads, does it start right up after stalling as it seems unlikely that it would just be the highway in order to even try and figure it out more information is required

Why does my 2005 dodge durango keep stalling and the check engine light comes off and on ocasionally

The check engine light indicates that you have a failing system that is monitored by the cars computer(s). In this case it is probably a sensor that controls fuel or ignition to the engine. You can probably go to a nearby auto parts store and have the code read from the computer for free. If you do this, it will give you and idea where to start your diagnosis. If you post the code to this forum, you will likely receive numerous ideas on where to start looking and how to repair the problem.

Hope this helps.

1999 Durango: while driving down the road my rpm gage drops to z...

this sounds like a bad connection or a bad VSS sensor... either way it needs replacement/repair.. if the tach sends 0 info to the ECM the car will quit or run in an open loop causing it to run real poor... have someone like Auto Zone??? scan it for free and give you the computer code results.... this will help you unravel the mystery of the stalling.
