Question about 1994 Pontiac Sunbird
I have a 94 sunbird that the key were lock inside.I try with a anger near the handle and finaly i got the key from the top of the door near the roof. Now i got the key but the door wont open.I see the lock going to lock/unlock,but still cant open the door. Maybe some rod have been move when we were trying to unlock it with the hanger.
If you can open the door from the inside that's a good thing. The rod from the door handle from the out side has ether fallen off or it is bent and needs to be straighten out.
Your going to have to remove the door panel and make sure you have the windows rolled up. Once the panel is off you have minimal room to play with and make sure the key's are not in the Ignition. Don't want to lose a hand.
Try to see the rod from the outside door handle and move it like your going to open the door. The rod if it's connected should move down to the door lock. If the rod has bent, then the rod does not move far enough to push the door lock to unlock.
Try to bend the rod straight with the one hand that you can only get in there till the rod can move far enough to unlock the door luck. When i say door lock i don't mean the lock cylinder, I mean the door lock half way down the door with the striker. you can use a screw driver to luck the door luck where the striker is and with the out side handle try to unlock it but trying to pull it out.
When the rod is straighten out long enough that the door luck can be unlocked with the out side handle, install everything back as it was in revers to how you removed it.
Your going to need extra door panel clips which break and you can pick that up at Auto Zone and you can also get the step by step instructions to removing the door panel if i was hard to understand and buy lots of band aid.Therer will be blood, lots.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Yes, Usually If you pull inside the lock area incorrectly, it will cause the rod to detach from the door latch. The door panel will have to come off and the rod, located and reattached. The retaining clip probably is damaged so inspect it and you should be able to find a replacement at NAPA or local dealership.
