If You can start the vehicle off ether only then you have a fuel issue. the pump is working and the fuel pressure regulator is too. so either the injectors are not getting an electrical signal to open and close of possibly, Your oil sending unit is defective and has shut down your fuel system (a safety).

The vehicle wont start unless you used ether but then it got worse and even with the use of ether, the vehicle wouldn't start, right? Did the engine light come on and were you able to retrieve any codes? The more info that you get the better. It really did sound like a bad oil sending unit but none the less it didn't work. Unfortunately you are doing process of elimination. With out a good scan tool it wont be easy or fast to fix. Your problem could be a bad ground or a broken wire. On the front/top part of the motor, at the thermostat housing, there is a ground going to one of the bolts. That ground goes to the ECM. Make sure it is clean, tight, free of corrosion, and not broken. You have already tried replacing the ICP, pick-up coil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and fuel filter. All good things to consider replacing. Check the PCV valve, coil (for primary and secondary resisdence),vacuum leaks, IAC, coolant temp. sensor, Both fuel injectors (you said the fuel line pressure is 58psi, so the pump and regulator are working but why isnt it spraying past the injectors) check the wiring and connections at the injectors. Check the fuses and relays asociated with the fuel, ignition, and engine. I dont know if you already checked it but turn the engine over and see if the distribtor spins. Please let me know how it is going and if I can be any more help.

Spray some carburetor cleaner into the engine an see if it starts ! I don't think 58 psi fuel pressure is enought ! Has to be above 60 psi .415-455 kPa (60-66 psi).

How many quarts of transmission fluid does my 1999 chevy astro van require?

1999 CHEVROLET TRUCKS ASTRO VAN 4.3L 6-cyl Engine Code [W]
CAPACITIES: Automatic Transmission, 4L60-E Initial Fill..........4.7 liters
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill 4 speed 4L60-E..........10.6 liters

To check fluid level, transmission should be hot and engine running at idle. Pull the transmission dip stick out "red" wipe clean and re-insert. Check level of transmission fluid as indicated on the dip stick using the second reading and make sure the Astro is parked on leveled ground. Add Dexron III or VI as needed and do not over fill.

1999 Chevy Astro Van. Don't know exact model # of

You should have a 4l60E in your astro van. Which is electrically controlled, so no vacuum modulator. However, to address the ventilation selector not working... look for a vacuum line exiting the firewall and going to the passenger rear of the intake manifold. You will likely find it broken or disconnected there.

I replaced the transmission on my 1998 Chevy Astro Van.

If you put the transmission in neutral, there are two notches on the switch that will line up to adjust the switch correctly.

1993 Chevy Astro Mini Van not starting

if your mini van has a 4.3 litre engine v6, when you turn the key on you should be able to hear the electric fuel pump start. the fuel pump is inside the gas tank,if you hear the pump you might want to change the fuel filter. The thing about computerized engines and a throttlebody is that you need a fully charged battery to start work with.

Has the 'Check Engine' light come on? I had this problem at 30,000 miles and the trouble codes set were transmission component slipping. Ultimately required replacement of the transmission.
