There is an overflow tube for the coolant resovoir. if the vehicle is running fine, no busted hoses or radiator, and not overheating then probably you just put too much coolant in. keep driving it and keep an eye on the coolant levels and temperature. if those remain ok then you should have nothing to worry about

Those cars have big problems with the intake/intake gaskets leaking, and water pumps. When you find the leak, repair and flush with coolant other than dexcool as this is the source of most of the cooling issues on GM cars.

Where is the engine coolant temp sensor located on a 2004 grand prix gt

On the 3.8 liter the coolant temp sensor is right below the the thermostat in the intake manifold on the drivers side of the engine.

The thermostat is under the housing that is bolted to the intake plenum that the upper hose is attached to.

You should look under the car after it sits a while and see if there is antifreeze on the ground. If so try to see where it could be leaking under the hood directly over the puddle. You could have a leaking water pump. If so there would be dampness under the right side of engine compartment. Also check the radiator hoses at front of car.

The only things that it can be is either the belt for the pump is broke or the pump has gone bad. if the belt is on and turning the pump, then the pump is either bad or out of fluid in which case you have had a leak for some time if it is empty. check the reservoir on top of the pump, unscrew the cap and check the fluid first before replaceing the pump, it may just be empty, but then you need to find the leak

more than likely one of your heater hoses has sprung a leak ... if your car is not over heating with water in it than your water pump is fine.... the gasket around it may need to be replaced tho ... start your car then you look for your leak please get back to me

you can put the live wire from the battery directly to the pump connector. if you have the difficulty to select the right connector, you need to take out the pump assembly then see from inside.
