Disconnect your batterys grond cable first. Next remove the wiring from the starter. Next you will need to remove the two starter bolts running upoward to the engine. Take note if any shims are there which I doubt. Reverse proceedure to install

Think i have a vacum leak on my 1996 chev s10

I have found vac. leaks by taking a can of starter fluid and lightly spraying the hoses you suspect are bad, do one at a time and see if the engine revs. up, if it does you have a vac. leak close to where you sprayed the starting fluid.......Hope that helps...

How to remove a starter on a 1996 s10 4.3 4x4

well most of the time you only have to deal with 2 or 3 very long bolts. look for the starter on the back right (passenger) side of the engine. (for rear wheel drive trucks)it will be a big and heavy(so be carfully) cilinder shape object that is right againts the engine and fly wheel. to remove locate and remove all wires(make note of were they are) and then remove the bolts one buy one. with the last one you may need to hold up the start and undo the last bolts buy hand(after useing a wrench for the first part) it sohuld simply fall off the engine. don't drop it. if it dosen't come out so easly it may be held up buy the flay wheel cover. thin sheat of metal held in place buy 5-7 small screws. easy to uninstall and reinstall
