Question about Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Hey Frank- yeah, my mechanic can't find the problem. He even unplugged the abs computer and it was still sputtering when you slow down and the reverse light seemed to still light up. are you talking about the abs module? My 1994 Camry 6v 4 door has developed a strange condition. It was sitting for 2 months and at start up every thing functions normally. On braking the lamp out indicator light and reverse lights both light up. On braking while driving there is also a loud thumping /vibrating noise when slowing but only from 40 km to 20 km and only in drive or over drive. The noise and vibration is not present when braking in neutral or 1st or second gear. There are no burnt out light bulbs. Tyranny fluid is clean and has been changed frequently. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ask your mechanic to check the light bulb sockets and see if they are shorting out, if it set in damp weather it is possible for the lead on the bulbs to corrode and short out like your talking about, and have him check that all the springs in the bulb socket are still good and the rubbers are not worn out or shorted from one side to the other. a two lamp bulb looks like this on the back side 00 and it is made of lead solder and can vibrate and flatten out and cause it to short out and give you the same problem you are speaking of, I have found this on a few dozen cars and the older they get the more prone they are to have that happen. and as for the vibration you may have a tire that went bad have them rotated and balanced, it's worth a shot,

Comming to a stop light is fine untill your almost stoped then the pedel starts to pausate and the truck stops this only happens at low rpm

Hey The pulsing is you ABS brake system working it only pulses when any one of the wheels try's to skid so I would say you are coming to a very fast stop and need to slow down sooner and come to a gentle more slower stop

My 2009 pontiac g6 monitor says engine power reduced , the car sputters , and ut only gos 20mph

Well, I doubt more than one sensor is bad, if any.
The trouble codes tell the mechanic what to test, not replace.
The O2 sensors provide data to the engine computer to adjust fuel mixture. You could also have low fuel pressure or something else.

Why do ABS brakes grab and push air?

hey check ur abs wheel speed sensors. check data when ur moving lf rf and rears should be reading same speed. its probably gonna be a bad wheel bearing cause that where ur speed sensors are built in to. u need a abs scan tool to monitor ur wheel speed parameters in order to pin point ur bad sensor. or pull codes from ur abs module and see what side it says is failing. good luck

Nissan pathfinder deisel 2007 slows down between 100-120km while foot flat - ABS and (!) light on

The exclamation mark is not something you should ignore. The whole thing could be caused by the ABS light because stability control is limited now because of the ABS. That would cause power to be limited also. Get the engine dignosed for free at any autoparts store that is a large chain store.

When slowing down & stopping 2005 Mazda tribute sputters and dies

Sounds like it could possibly be a vaccume problem, the computer sees that the vaccume has a low pressure and thus fludding the engine, or visa versa, it's seeing too high of a pressure and cutting the fuel comsumption to a minumum enough to make the engine sputter and die.. Does this happen when the cars in Netural or Reverse or Park? Just Drive?

I have replaced the Clutch Slave for a 1990 Supra Turbo, and after the next day all the Fluid leaks out from the resevior.I don know wher the fluid goes. what should I do next? Thank You, Frank

Hey Frank. When one cylinder goes the other usually follows because higher pressure needed to operate a new cylinder, sometimes the fluid leaks down the firewall or down your clutch pedal onto the floor, if its your master cylinder that is.You can get a new one or get your old one rehoned and a stainless steel tube inserted and it will last forever as theyre made of aluminium and wear. Either way you'l need to buy a new kit for the inside of it.Be mindful what you order as some models of cars the abs and non abs cylinders are a very slight different diameter. I hope this helps.

Jeep Cherokee ABS light is on and now no brakes

Hi laustiin,
When the ABS system fails the brakes revert to standard brakes. The ABS module will not repair this for you.
The master cylinder is not likely to change anything either.
I am assuming that the pedal is full since you didn't say otherwise.
Your problem is most likely the brake booster. pump the brakes several times with the engine off to relieve any built up vacuum. While pressing down on the brake pedal start the engine. If the booster is working properly the pedal will move slightly down then press back against your foot. If it doesn't do this replace the booster.
If this doesn't help reply with more information and I will try to help you out.
Good Luck
