check the diagnostic connector for one pin that has 12 volts, if it is not present it will not test. On this year it is likely the crankshaft position sensor is defective.

ckp is" hall effect switch" see u-tube videos. also for distributor pick-up testing. pcms can be braindead and lack update. losing power is bad. jumpstarts are bad. hold the throttle wide open during testing or fuel can get into hydrostatically lock engine during testing. also, relays can be disabled to cancel fuel while you get your answer

if not just a fuse the best thing to do is hook it up to a scanner. There are a number of things it could be...coil pack, ignition switch, relays ect... Process of elimination can get very expensive.you can rent a scanner from autozone for around $100 that you get back when u return it so it is free and will tell you what the problem is for sure.

96 jeep cheokee problems no spark

I would make sure you have voltage to the coil. Could be a fuse or relay problem. Is the check engine light on when you turn the key on ?

96 jeep cherokee 4.0 has no spark po320 shows could the cam sensor cause it to have no spark

Cam sensor, crank sensor, bad coil, all could give no spark. Check all fuses and relays.... wiring connections as well. 320 is a crank sensor code.

No spark and no gas now what

Hi,

If you have no spark and no fuel pump operation,I would strongly suspect the Auto Shut Down relay.
The Auto Shut Down (ASD) Relay supplies power to the ignition coil, fuel injector, electric fuel pump, and the oxygen sensor heater element as long as the key is in the START or RUN position and the Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC) is receiving a reference signal from the distributor.
If the SMEC receives no distributor reference signal for two seconds or more the SMEC interrupts power to the ignition coil, fuel injectors, electric fuel pump, and the oxygen sensor heater element by removing the ASD relay ground.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Try resetting the asd "auto shut down fuse had a similar problem the jeep would crank but did not get spark or gas also check your fuel pump? and the asd relay may be bad it will prevent the jeep from getting no spark and will not fire some jeeps have security problems
