Mean time try using manual 1 and 2. dose this alow you to dirve ?
if not some were from your engine to your trany theres a problem with the path of power.
could be your conver(not likly but may need to be looked at), could be an in put clutch/forward clutch/drive clutch. could be a blocked passage way for your trany fluid. could have a destroyed planetary.

Do you hear any noise when in gear ?
Do you have sparkalies or shiny particles in your AFT?
Can you drive in manual 1-2 ?
is the Engine light ON ?

What causes 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC automatic transmission to delay or slip shifts?

that is a hum dinger, largest ever posted, in one shot.
very good.!
one word , the transmission slips. (never drive a slipping tranny)
overheat indicator.! that is key.
many newer cars will change the transmission shifting any time
the engine over heats.
and overheat wins over transmission , every time.
if the engine burns up, what good is any transmission.? nada.

solve overheat first.

slip or flare.
is when the engine RPM rises fast and the car dont go faster.
SLIPS.
and slipping burns up trannyclutchs and increases the damage. inside the transmission, dont do that. dont allow it,
park it and fix it.

on some tranny there is a temperature sensor that the TCM
watches and changes shift patterns based on AFT fluid temps.
and if the ATF fluid gets too hot , it takes actions. to keep the tranny from harm.

why not get a scan too and see what DTC errors there are..
DTC, engine overheate.
DTC< tranny overheat (caused by above)

No speed when gas pedal is to floor tranny light came on

With the oil light coming on and the brake pedal being hard to press I would say that the engine stopped hence no vacuum -no power assist from the booster.- hard brake pedal. The lock uo feeling may come from the engine seizing up while you were still in gear

hi,
its down on tranny fluid still and probably was just about completely out. check the transmission fluid with the car idling in park, set park brake, check fluid. if it doesent show or barely, add ONE quart of fluid. restart and check where the level is. and 1/2 cups at a time now. keep doing this untill the fluid is at the top mark, be careful and dont overfill it. This could be signs of a new problem or a leak. park it on a piece of cardboard overnight and look at the cardboard in the morning. study where its leaking, tighten the hose or it may need a new gasket. buy a haynes or chilton manual for the car and study how to put a pan gasket off and on , its easy but it takes time and patience. the transmission is the weakness in these models of cars. dont drive it untill you put more fluid in it or take it into a tranny shop if your unsure.

Car seemed to go into nutral on own

Next time this happens without stopping or pushing gas shift tranny into N and then back into D and see what happens. The battery light came on because of low RPMs, no biggy.

2008 Ford Edge engine surge while stopped in gear

Sounds like a faulty Throttle position sensor. Warranty should pay for parts & damage, talk to your dealer. The 88 -90 ford tempos had same problem & a driving school was using them, lots of kids & instructors got the heck scared out of them, but luckily no-one injured badly.
