I have a 2000 VW Passat. The car stalled on the highway after kicking back a little as if I was losing power. My EPC light then came on (it has since gone off)and I was unable to start it again until the next day when it was at my mechanic who could not understand why the car kept stalling. It now starts but does not stay running long. Since then,I got the converters fixed since I needed them anyway but the car still stalls. What should I do next?
If it back fired it is possible the timing jump a tooth. If so, you'll have to have the timing sprockets placed back into the proper spots. Have your mechanic do this if it's needed. But in any case have the timing check first.

The car did not back fire. It just kicked back like it was about to stall before it actually did. The EPC light is my concern. Just need to know what it means.
