Jeep Liberty won't go over 25mph

Jeep liberty check engine light is on and wont go over 25 miles an hour......tranny or a fusable link or some sort of electronic?? Mine is a 2002 Liberty and won't go over 25mph too. The mechanic took it for a spin and it would now have a good 1st and 2nd gear if it's manually on 2nd gear instead of just "Drive", but the speed is still only til 45. Still not highway drivable. He's going to check on the computer side of it, but thank God it's not the transmission.

Sounds Like your trany went into defalt mode or a"LIMP mode" it's FFM is set to save the trany is somehting failed, and that can be anything from a shorted gorund to the PCM/TCM or as bad as a failed clutch pistion. This isn't an esay fix. Best bet is to look at your AFT fluid id it has sparkaly particles you should start looking for a replacement trany. if your fluid looks fine the only option is to go to a delare b/c they have the tool to talk to the PCM/TCM via computer, and thus they can tell you more.

Here's some info of what can cause the code. If vehicle has high miles you may be looking at replacing the solenoid which is in the valve body of transmission.

SYMPTOM
P0755 - 2C SOLENOID CIRCUIT

WHEN MONITORED
Initially at power-up, then every 10 seconds thereafter. They will also be tested immediately after a gear ratio or pressure switch error is detected.

SET CONDITION
Three consecutive solenoid continuity test failures, or one failure if test is run in response to a gear ratio or pressure switch error.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Related relay DTC's present
  • Intermittent wiring and connectors
  • 2C solenoid control circuit open
  • Transmission control relay output circuit open
  • 2C solenoid control circuit short to ground
  • 2C solenoid control circuit short to voltage
  • Solenoid/TRS assembly - 2C solenoid
  • TCM - 2C solenoid circuit

2002 Jeep Liberty Ltd, about 80,ooo miles. Check engine light just came on, car started shaking, had about a quarter tank which is where my son tends to keep it.


car shaking could be serious get your codes checked at your local parts store for free or at your local shop asap for further diagnosis

How do I check tranny fluid? 2002 jeep liberty sport 3.7 liter


there should be a dipstick under the hood similar to the engine one,usually the fluid level is checked when the transmission is at normal running temp. with the shifter in N or P but make sure the hand brake is on.....hope this helps.....cheers

I replaced the alternator in my 2002 gt Mustang and the battery light came on drove the car for around 20-25 miles and it died. I tried to start the car and all I got was a ticking sound. I then had the...


the alternator can be tested by most auto parts stores (usually for free) ... you could have a blown fusable link in the heavy wire that goes from the alternator to the battery .. they can test that by hooking up directly to the alternator output ..if its ok there but not at the battery then maybe a blown fusable link or bad connector .. even if the alternator is working, it still wont charge the battery if the connection is broken between the two .. you can also check the ground wire between the engine and frame (neg side of battery) ..

The speed can be limited to 25mph for many reasons. For example sudden loss of compression, misfire, injection related problem, or speed limiter kicking in.

The only way to find out is by scanning the car ECU (main control module) with an ODB II code reader.

2002 jeep liberty siren whining noise on start up


I had the same problem at about the same mileage. Replaced the power steering pump and the start up screaming went away! ( The Jeep's and mine!)

Oil pressure light on and wont start


Well I had the same problem and wow was I surprised man. I have a code machine that plugs into my car and tells me what wrong with it then I fix it. It read that I had a misfire #1 so that means my spark plug is dirty or something like that. When I took off the spark plug it was smashed in that was a good sign.. I called a mechanic friend of mine and he said that my head and piston were damaged but would not really know unless he took it apart. What he said was true and cost me a great deal of money..!!!! Now searching the web I have found that there many jeep liberty with the same problem just different spark plug locations so I wonder if Jeep knows of this issue but will not acknowledge it..
