Engine will not turnover

Hello I have a 66 Sunbeam tiger that has sat in the garage for approx 1yr. The battery has not been conected during that time and was bought new approx 8mmths ago. I have connected the battery and there seems to be power in there also for additional boost I have jump started it from another car. The car doesn't turn over there is just a click when the ignition key is turned. I have also put car into gear and rocked the car to and fro (suggested by someone). Tried again and still the same problem, just a click and no turnover. I have now also noticed clutch peddle hits the floor when previously it was ok . Has anyone any ideas before the car is taken to the garage. Much appreciated in advance. Thomas (had to choose make and a model in order to post)

The battery could be charged... how do the terminal connections on the battery look? Are they clean? Is there signs of corrosion? I would remove the battery terminals and clean them with a battery terminal cleaning brush... even a light coat of corrosion can screw up your electical connection and the "click" can be from not a good solid clean connection.
One trick in a pinch situation I've had success is to take a small sheetrock screw and screw it into the crack between the battery terminal post and the battery connector.... if this improves the situation, then pull the battery terminals and clean them.
Also make sure the battery ground is properly connected at the other end of the ground cable (usually the negative on the batt).

If for some reason your batt is fine, and the starter is just unable to turn the car over due to possible tightness of the motor from sitting, take the spark plugs out and squirt some Dexron type trans fluid in the cylinders... not too much but enough to coat the top of the piston and soak around the rings...
let it soak overnight and then try to turn the engine over with the plugs out... ... let me know what you find... hope this solves your issue. let me know after.

Was it hot out during the time in the garage? Have you crawled under and look for the tell tale stains that gasoline leaves when it evaporates?

My 99 yukon wont start when its cold, I can spray carb cleaner in the throttle body and it will fire, but other wise it wont start unless its warm.

When is the last time you had a tune-up on your truck? During the cold winter months, if the battery does not have a proper level of cranking amps it is sometimes hard for the engine to turnover in the cold. You may need a tune-up or battery replaced.

I have a 2006 SAAB sedan, during this heat wave my SAAB would not turn over while in the garage. When I turn the key all of the dashboard lights come on I hear a loud clicking sound but it does not...

Check all battery connections, the ground stap from motor to body connection, battery ground to motor and body and battery to starter connections. It could be bad starter also

My ABS light is on. Someone sat in the back

There is a wire under the seat, if this has been disturbed it would trigger the airbag light, check the wire and ensure it has a good conection.

Most times once the light is on you will have to get the light reset at a garage.

Clicking noise behind dash when starting; tripometer resets to 0

the clicking sounds like the starter solenoid engaging & disengaging due to low voltage. Battery may have a short. Check voltage with engine off. Should be 12 volts. Engine running 14 volts.
