Question about 1988 Mazda B2600 Cab Plus
Looking for diagram and instructions to replace shifter bushing in a 1995 Mazda B2300 2wd manual pick up truck. I think it's the same as Ford Ranger. Shifter is very loose and sloppy and truck does not stay in gear. Where can I find this info online?

SOURCE: shifter knob removal
the shift knob is glued and pressed on, the best way to remove it intact is to heat the knob with a heat gun and pull straight up with a lot of force, please be very careful because when the knob finally releases there is very good chance that you can hit yourself in the face, if the knob is not to be used again you cut a **** up the side with a dremal tool,

it sounds like the dealer has not fit the shifter cable corectly it may be sitting on a bad angle as you have all ready paid the money for the new auto and you expressed your concern when you picked the car up you should take the car back and demand it be repair properly don't take the excuse it is wering in car parts dont were in,
i am sorry this is not exactly wat you want to here as this sit is to help people fix things but some things you shouldn't have to fix eg poor workmanship
(also the truble may be in the selecting mecanism inside the auto in wich case it will need to go to spcalist)

SOURCE: My brother's mazda 6 won't
no the dash has to be completely removed to access the top of the transmission to replace the crappy cable mazda designed that breaks easily. Its a metal cable until it reaches the tranny then its plastic

You most likely have a broken "Detent Spring", usually located in the top
shifter cover of the transmission. Pull up the carpet, revealing the cover
on the floorboards. Take that off, slide it up the lever, to see the top cover of
the trans. If you can see the bolts that hold it on, clean off the dirt so it
won't fall inside, and remove it. The spring is usually located in the cover.
This all depends....on the type of tranny.

Check the shift cable that goes between the shifter and the transmission. If it's damaged internally it will not move properly and the condition you stated will be a symptom. Easiest way to check it is to disconnect the transmission end of cable and see if it moves freely. If not, replace it.
