sorry i was unclear... the 96 astro van that i'm talking about does not have a rear passenger door. it has a sliding side door, the doors i'm talking about are on the back of the van, the rear license plate is attached to one of them. there is no inside door handle, or latch of any kind. i did not see a way to remove the int. trim/cover panel with the doors closed without doing a great deal of dammage... the exterior door handle just flaps when lifted, without engaging the locking mechanism. i'm sure there's a way to get the inside pannel off the door. i just did not want to do more damage than i had to...

Check your fuses first, it is the same fuse for your cigarette lighter socket so if your cigarette lighter isn't working then the rear dutch door solenoid won't work.

That is the most common, also the switch itself can get dirty and when you press it in, it doesn't activate the solenoid.

There is also a way to open it manually, but it's not the easiest and they might not want me posting that information on here.

How do you open the back door (no manual)

Rear hatch is locked or unlocked with a key. (if equipped) • To open the rear hatch, insert the key into the lock, turn it to the unlock position and pull up the rear hatch by pressing the handle (DOOR). You can also lock/unlock the latch (but not release it) with the central door lock system. • If unlocked, the rear hatch can be opened by pressing the handle (DOOR) and pulling the hatch up. • To close the rear hatch, lower and push down the rear hatch firmly. Make sure that the rear hatch is securely latched.

How do I get rear door open 2004 Buick park avenue

What kind of problem are you having ? explain ! Can't open door power locks , inside an outside handles do nothing , can you unlock with key or key fob . Or is it a door latch problem ? If you can unlock the door but when you pull the handles ,an the door doesn't open , that's a latch problem . An that could be a tough one to fix. You would need to get the inside door panel off to get at the latch inside !

My keyless entry for my 2008 Volvo s 40 won't work. I've tried replacing the battery but it still doesn't work. Anything I may can do before spending money on a new key.?

How are you trying to open the door , button on key fob ? With this system you can pull up on the drivers handle an it activates Antennas in the external side door handles (C30/C70 front doors, S40/V50 rear doors)
  • Antennas in the passenger compartment and cargo compartment
  • An antenna in the rear bumper
  • Quick lock motors in the lock units in the side doors
  • The remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver receives a signal from the key
  • The switch in the clutch pedal (manual transmissions) or a signal from the brake pedal switch via the central electronic module (CEM) (automatic transmissions)
  • Key-in switch.
  • Switch in door handle and lock button on handle .
If a door handle is pulled outward, a switch closes that wakes up the system and activates the antennas in the handles on the side where the handle has been pulled out. If a valid key is within a radius of approx. 1.5 metres from the handle, the relevant door will open and the vehicle will unlock one or several doors. Which doors are unlocked depends on the settings for the system. The vehicle can also be unlocked if the handle is affected on the tailgate.

You can take off the small cover where there is normally a key hole, and access it that way.

Doors do not lock or unlock with the buttons

Check to see if someone might have unplugged the switches or rain may have ruined switch if window was down... the keyless module goes to the relays that throw the actuators. sometimes door switches are wired so one is the master and the other goes through it as a slave. GM should be driver side. also could be broken wires in the door boots from opening and closing. The rear door may have problems with the linkage from the key cylinder to the latch or be rusted. Usually one can find the relays by using the keyless while listening for a light clicking sound under the dash driver side kick panel if you need to check for unplugged harness.

To start with , stick the little red nozzle from WD-40 in the key slot as far as you can & spray real good in there. Can you hear lock "thump" when you hit remote for unlock, or open?

I have a 2-rear door 2002 Astro. The door handle has broken and I cannot open the doors. Can I remove the handle assembly from the outside, and what parts do I need to make the replacement?

You need to open the door to remove the handle, ask a locksmith to open it with a 'slim jim' then once it is open you can remove the broken handle assembly. Once removed you can see what you need to replace.
