similar problems occur with Subaru AWD systems, the problem might be the centre diff, or a rubbing mudflap, or you have put the wrong aspect ratio tyres on and the drive system is complaining.

I need to replace the front differential on my 1999 Chevy blazer but first I have to remove the bad one How do I get the front differential out??Could use a diagram also to help when I put it back together

To remove any diff you have to remove the axles as they will hold the diff centre in the housing. Remove drive shaft and the bolts around the diff centre. you may need to break the gasket seal to get the centre to move. A workshop manual for the vehicle would be the best idea you would have.

When going around some corners there is a noise from rear of my 2000 Troopy 4WD. What is causing it, and how do I fix it?

Check and adjust the wheel bearings. May be too loose allowing the brakes to rub . Check the diff oil magnetic plug as troopys have a limited slip diff that may be failing from the incorrect diff oil in use.. The clutches in the diff may be / or have failed

I got a 1997 gmc jimmy 4wd my 4wd doesnt engage the front diff but it engages the ****** for low range ive checked my actuator pump and its moving but now i have a rattling noise in my front drivers side...

It would appear you have a failed CV shaft on your drivers side front. If the axle is jumping around, that means the 4wd is engaged, but the front wheels can't pull because the one axle is just freewheeling. Replace that left axle and you should be good to go. Might want to check the cv boots on the right side axle while you are there.

I HAVE A RUBBING SOUND FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND A JIFFY LUBE TECH SAYS I NEED THE LUBRICANT CHANGED IN MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE JEEP IS A 2004 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED ANY COMMENTS?

The rubbing sound you hear may or may not be related to the differential condition. If the diff lube has not been changed in the last 12,000 miles, it's due for a change: it is recommended as normal service.(front and rear) If the diff is leaking or very low, or, if there is a noise, just replacing the lube won't help. You need to correct the problem.
The average JL tech is well trained in removing and replacing oil drain plugs and filters. Leave the real diagnosis to a trained experts. You may have a piece of plastic column cover rubbing (easy to fix) or something more serious such as a hub bearing or differential internal bearing failing.

I get a rubbing or grinding noise when in 4wd hi on my avalanche. it's fine when in 2wd and I only get the noise when I turn in 4wd hi.

check the fluid level in your front diff. you will probably find it if low. also check your front axle seals and front pinion seal on the diff you will probably find that they are leaking as this is a common issue with them
