Question about 2009 Lincoln MKS

Brake Problems New vehicle...dealership says brake pads are fine; however, brakes frequently make a grating/grinding noise when you apply the brakes. Have returned to dealership 2 times but noise did not occur while there. Noise sounds similar to the sound of metal against metal.

I have an 08 Avalanche. Having a severe grinding noise when coming to a stop in front. My brake pads are fairly new. Just started on Thursday. Sounds horrible now. What could it be.

Hi Benjamin:
I'd be getting the brakes checked (or actually check them myself).
That involves getting the vehicle jacked up, removing the wheels, and visually inspecting the brake pads and discs.
PLEASE! This is a safety issue and you NEED good brakes.

Don't delay/ Get them checked.
Best to you.

98 Ford Exp.4X4. Cranks fine but after in drive will start to flutter as I brake and cut off.

Suspect a brake servo diaphragm has faild so when you apply the brake its suckingf in air causing it to cut the engine out ,the grinding is possible the front brake pads ,or the disks or rotors as you colonialists call them are worn and the lip on the edge is so intense that the brake pads are now touching this lip ,common fault they dont make steel like they used too

I hear Grinding noise when I apply brakes to my Saturn Vue 2006 V6. Mechanic has replaced brake pads, rotors, wheel bearing hubs, Brake calipers. I don't know why the noise is not going away?

You may have too much brake oil pressure being applied when brakes are called for. Have Mechanic check you vehicles master cylinder for leaks.

you need to check to see if the new brake pads have been fitted correctly, some brake pads may go on either way & the metal side is on the rotor......hope this helps......cheers.

When i press on brakes i can hear a grinding noise coming from he front end, what could it be?

Brake pads are worn. That noise is the sound of the backing plate for the brake pads hitting the rotors. You will need to replace the pads and probablt the rotors. When the brakes go metal to metal like that it typically destroys the rotor.

It could well be in need of new brake pads however this would be noticable more when you apply the brakes if the sound is in the rear its not the front brakes it could also be your wheel hub bearings are past there used by date its a serious problem and needs attension right away

Grinding noise

Usually a grinding noise in a disc brake is caused from a rotor with a raised edge that froms from normal wear. The raised edge is not a big deal until you install NEW disc brake pads. All of the sudden you have a grinding noise everytime you apply the brake because the NEW disc pad is being ground down but the raised surface created from the OLD Disc Brake Pad. Most of the time the Brake repair shops turn rotors on the car when the pads are replaced and this grinding symptom does not manifest itself.

On and OLD set of disc brake pads over time that raised area on the rotor starts to flake / rust / corrode and can come in contact with the brake disc pad when the brakes are applied.

Hope this explains it well enough.

Where do you put the brake fluid on this car? Because, my car is making a grinding sound when I put my foot on the brake.

The grinding noise probably means you need to put new brakes on. If you fill the brake fluid reservoir, and then change the brakes, the new fluid will run out anyways, because the new brakes will have to be put in, and the fluid will run out.

2006 Honda Odyssey brake problems

Sounds like there is a problem with these vehicles and that Honda are aware of it, and at least some dealerships are being honest about it. Check out the forum on fixya from other Odyssey owners here.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I can only suggest you go back to the dealership and quote this "Honda Tech Line Summary Article",
#ATS050707..."Grinding, Growling Noise from the Front Brakes - A grinding,
growling noise when applying moderate to hard pedal pressure at low speeds
is caused by the brake pad friction material. An improved material will
be announced in a forthcoming Service Bulletin."
Ask them if there has been a fix developed for this problem yet.

Hope this helps,
Mark.
