Blows 15amp ecm fuse

15amp ecm fuse keeps blowing for the ignition system... when you put the key in and turn it it automaticaly blows

15 amp is a fair current draw and for it to blow after a few minutes means that there is a short in that circuit that is allowing a drain to earth that just exceeds the 15 amp. It is in the ignition part of the system and may be a bad connection ( water ) or a problem appearing in the ECM or relay . Run fault codes to find the area of the fault. Because it is taking time to blow the fuse, it will be difficult to find. Check all wiring for rub marks .

Voltage regulator fuse keeps blowing on my 98 ford explorer


Well I looked at the wiring diagram and I did not see a 30amp fuse.
There is a 15amp, a 7.5 amp, and the two fuseable links between the battery and the alternator. Thats not to say a 30amp fuse for the charging system does not exist, but its not in the standard diagram.
Do you have battery power on the large alternator post when the key switch is off ? And do you have power on the lite green and red wire when the key switch is on ?

2002 tracker,keeps blowing 15 amp fuse that runs heatr fan and lets car shift out of park


I looked at the wiring diagrams and those two circuits should be on two different fuses.
The shift lock solenoid is powered by the 10amp turn signal fuse and the 15amp stop light fuse. If the fuse blows when you put it in park, I would say the shift lock solenoid is the problem and the stop light fuse is the one that is blowing.
The heater fan and relay are powered by a 60amp fuse and a 15amp fuse but not the stop light fuse.
Its possible there is a short some where that has connected these two circuits.
You could disconnect the shift lock solenoid to see if the fuse still blows.

You ohmed them but did you check them for continuity to GROUND, to find out if one of them is grounded out ! They normally ground to ecm/pcm not to eng. so check them for short to grd with wire harness unplugged from all injectors and check 1 at a time, If they all show open...no ground then check your power should be pink for chafing or bare short to ground. this will be on Bank 2 you are checking which is the Head that setsfarthest back to firewall. Bank 1 is Head farthest to front towards Radiator.

Have an auto electrician look at it.

I had the same problem just last week. It turned out to be the idle regulator. Every time the IR got hot it would blow the fuse. You can drive the car without it attached but get it fixed asap. Got one for $40 from a spare parts place ($200 brand new) and my mechanic mate changed it for me (looked easy enough to do it yourself). Good luck.

Sounds like there's a grounded wire somewhere between the ignition switch and the solenoid. When you bypass the switch with the screwdriver you don't ground out the line, but with the switch the ground shorts the circuit, blows the fuse, and then won't start the engine.

CHECK FOR IGNITION WIRES SHORT TO GROUND.I HAVE SEEN A BAD FUEL PUMP BLOW ECM FUSE.REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP FUSE DISABLE FUEL PUMP AND SEE IF FUSE KEEP BLOWING.
