Unhook the negative side of the battery for 15 minutes and it will forget the code and relearn all parameters. It'll run and shift a little funky until it relearns. If your radio has a factory code lock, be sure to write that down before you unhook the battery or the radio won't work.
My Dad had a 1999 Silverado that did the same thing, it's a bad design. You wont run out but keep track of your miles, Then you know how far you can go.
There should be an emergency release lever under the dash on the pedal itself.Be careful,they come loose with a bang & can cause serious damage to fingers.Good luck, ChevRev
