Question about 2006 Mazda 6

1 Answer

Body Control Module is wrecked

I brought my 2006 mazda 6i to the dealership this morning because my horn was beeping and my trunk was open the keyless entry wasn't working. They determined that the body control module (GP7A-67-560D) was corroded and needs to be replaced. They quoted me approx $500 to do the job. I'm going to try to find the part online (my friend will install it) and would appreciate some suggestions as to what company/site to go through. If anyone knows an approximate cost, I'd appreciate that too. Thanks!

The only place is the dealership. They will have to program it as well.

Why doesn't the horn beep when i lock my doors with the remote on my 03 malibu is it a bad relay

When you push the horn switch (button) on the steering wheel ,do the horns work then ? The BCM - body control module energizes the horn relay for keyless entry operation . Start by having BCM checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes .

Horn has stopped working on my 2006 Ford Explorer. The fuse seems to be fine. What could be the problem?

I would suspect an underhood fuse, the steering wheel clock spring, or a wiring problem. It's cheap to triple check all the fuses. The other two will require some troubleshooting to figure out. Since the horn works with the keyless entry, the relay, the horn, and its control wiring seem to be ok.

Horn BEEEEEPS every 5 mins.

Besides the switch on the steering wheel being pushed to control the horns , the BCM - body control module can activate the horns as well .
The horn system consists of the following components:
• HORN fuse
• Horn relay
• Horn slip ring
• Horn switch
• Horn assembly
• Body Control Module (BCM)
System Operation
The vehicle horn system is activated under the following conditions:
• The horn switch is depressed.
• The body control module (BCM) commands the horns on. The BCM commands the horns on under any of the following conditions:
- When the panic button is depressed on the remote control door lock transmitter. For further information refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation .
- When the keyless entry system is used to lock the vehicle, a horn chirp may sound to notify the driver that the vehicle has been locked. The notification feature may be enabled or disabled through personalization. For further information refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation .
Circuit Operation
Battery positive voltage is applied at all times to the horn relay coil and the horn relay switch. Pressing the horn switch applies ground to the horn relay control circuit. The body control module (BCM) may also apply ground to the horn relay control circuit as described above. When the horn relay control circuit is grounded, the horn relay is energized and battery positive voltage is applied to the horns through the horn control circuit. The horns sound as long as ground is applied to the horn relay control circuit

The BCM is receiving an erroneous signal from somewhere , keyless entry maybe. Hooking up a professional type scan tool to view inputs to the BCM would be the first diagnostic step I would do at the dealer .

I can't find the horn, also my remote keyless doesn't work

It sounds as if your BCM Body Control Module is failing. Nearly all electrical controls go to this on these vans. Best to purchase aused one from a wrecking yard. If my memory sereves me the BCM in located under the hood, drivers side by the fuse box.
I hope this may have helped you,
Tom

Horn alarm randomly beeps

Make sure to check all doors, the trunk latch, and the hood to ensure that they are shut. I have looked up your 2006 Chevy Malibu and there has been a lot of people complaining about the alarm system and it going off. There is a TBS (Technical Service Bulletin) out for your car. The TBS says that the Faulty Door Sensor. Take it to your local dealership and tell him what I found for you and they should get you a quote on how much it would cost to repair it.

Thank you for using Fix Ya!
Good Luck!
