Get a new or remanufactured tranny The parts are relatively inexpensive, but you would need extensive working knowledge of the interior of a manual transmission. On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the hardest, you are at about a 4.5.

How much does it cost 2 have a clutch replaced on a citreon xsara

Before you race out and replace the clutch which will not be cheap for your car have a good look at the slave cylinder for leaks . Check and bleed the clutch system and have the clutch m/cyl checked. Crunching gears means the clutch system is not disengaging properly

I Have A 1995 Eagle Talon It Is A Manual Transmission Every Other Gear Shifts Fine Besides 3rd Gear It Grinds What Is The Problem And What Can I Do To Fix It The Least Expensive Way???

manual ,well try pumping some grease into the gearbox your problem is a worn baulk ring on the syncro and to fit a new cluster is a gearbox out type repair job.More that the car is worth no doubt so add a grease gun full of LM grease to the gearbox and learn how to double the clutch so you can change gear without a crunch .

Bit of a crunch changing down into third, can i do anything easy to help it?

If this is a manual transmission, check the clutch free play which should not be much more than about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. If ok, then you may need to replace the third gear synchromesh mechanism within the transmission. This entails a tear down of the transmission, so it would not be classified as an easy fix. Hope this helps!

Gear change is hard and crunching

Your clutch is most likely worn out, u are over traveling the clutch and causing the hard shift. This is not a fluid problem unless the clutch has allot of free play or goes to the floor..

1st gear syncromesh Is worn or broken. This usually is caused by forcing lever in when clutch is not disengaging fully, or changing gear with out disengaging clutch.

With the engine off, you should be able to select all gears (with the clutch depressed). If you can the clutch is not adjusted correctly, if you can't the gear selector fork may be worn or just have no oil in the box.
It will not cause the clutch to burn out, probably the clutch will cause the gears to grind instead.
