Question about 1989 Honda Accord 4 Door
I have a 1989 Honda Accord Lx with 337,000 miles on it. It is a 5 speed manual transmission. Before the speedometer stopped working it would be working fine and then it would suddenly jump up and read about 120 and then go back down to normal. This did not happen all the time. Then one day it just quit working. I was told by a mechanic that it was the speedo head. I was also told that there are none to be had in my area. What is a speedo head and could I get one from a junk yard. Also could my problem be something else causing the problem. Also the cruize control stopped working a while before the speedometer stopped working
The speedo head or cluster is the part that houses the speedometer and tach, etc. now it may be the speedo cable that comes from the transmission to the speedo head that has broken. If so replace the cable and your back in business. If it is the head you can get them from your local recycle yard.
