Question about 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe
I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe. It runs great no real issues. It doesn't over heat but when the weather is hot outside and we go for drives, once we slow down and the tahoe has to shift back up from like 1st to 2nd and even 2nd to 3rd it bangs really hard. No other noise just bangs hard once its in gear runs fine.
Check your rear brake shoes if you had them changed recently they may not have been adjusted properly and that sometimes will cause that and also check the rear diff yoke where the driveshaft goes insometimes it get gear oil on it and harder for it turn. i would try these hints first before i take to shop
