Location of fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse and crank sensor

I am going to begin work on a 2000 Hyundai Elantra over the weekend. Before getting into it I am gathering as much information as possible as I am trying to spend the mininum amount of money. If I can fix the problem by using fuel system cleaner, or replacing a fuse, filter, or relay that would be great. If I have to spend the hundred and a half to get a new fuel pump then so be it, but I don't want to take that step until necessary. I can't get the car to my local AutoZone to have the codes checked as it dies every 10 miles. Car starts after sitting for a while, then dies whether just idling, or being driven. I know it sometimes takes money to fix our problems but we are running on a very tight budget along with the rest of the country. Any help would be appreciated.

It is the jumper wire on the fuel pump, about 2-3 inches with a plug on both ends. It is not the fuel pump. I replaced my fuel pump and still didnt work then I tried the little wire and bam it was fixed. Plus just take out the back seat and you wont have to drop the tank.

Fuel pump relay not getting power on 2000 hyundai elantra

Check for burnt fuses or a broken wire. If the relay is accessible check the wires at that point to see if they are carrying power. If so, and the relay is not responding, thne a new relay is in order.

My wife has a 2000 Hyundai Elantra. She says out of about 10 starts there will be one time it doesn't start. Turns over and everything and she will let it sit awhile and then it starts. This weekend,...

does the car ever run low with fuel? this can cause the pump to go in them completely or pick up dirt from the bottom and pump it through and clog injectors up. as for the relay things like fuel pump are normally in the main fuse box under the bonnet it should be a 5 pin 30amp relay. and it should like like the rest of the relays. try swapping a few around if you cant locate the one that says it if you have your manual it should help isolating which one the actual relay is

2000 Hyundai Elantra starts only sometimes.

Here is a view of where the fuel pump is located (in the gas tank) and what all the components look like. Good luck.
