Why does my 2003 pontiac sunfire lose all power while driving

That can be the symptom of a bad Ignition Control Module, or also a bad crank position sensor. The ICM can be taken off and tested for free at any parts store. The crank sensor circuit can be tested on the car with a multi-meter. Also small motors (like a fuel pump motor) that are starting to fail can sometimes work until they get hot and then stop working until they cool down again.

Next time the car shuts down and won't restart, check for spark on a spark plug wire with the engine cranking over. If you have no spark, suspect the ignition control module or the crank position sensor. If you still have spark, but won't start, check if the fuel pump is putting gas up to the engine.

1997 chevy lumina get warm and then stalls will not restart

Hi, It sounds like you have a bad temperature sensor. Which is a plug like sensor that screws in. You will find it on or near where you coolant hoses connect to your engine. usually near the upper hose. Which would be screwed into the neck that connects to the head or on the head itself. Also check your radiator it could be plugged into the back (facing the fan). also if you have not changed your thermostat it wouldn't be a bad idea to do that also. which you will find under the neck of where the hose connects to your engine. Usually 2 or three bolts. Make sure your engine is cooled down when doing this service to your engine because of built up pressure in the coolant system which will cause burns or worse. I hope this helped you out. It would be greatly appreciated if you could rate my answer, thanks MIKE-

Why would a 1991 buick park avenue stop running while driving?

Got one in my shop doing the same thing you and a couple others describe here. I first thought it was the fuel pump, but that seems to not be the case. I am taking the ignition module off today and having it tested at NAPA. THey say they can put it through a couple of drive cycles and see if it cuts off. I'll let you know. THis car I have has already had a crank sensor replaced, but still dies and won't restart. When it dies, I noticed that spark has dropped out, but fuel pressure is still good. Let you know, later, but I think this ign. module is to blame.

Stalling issue

If your car has high miles and you haven't changed the coil packs, that may be your problem. Bad coil paks will cause hard starting, rough idle and stalling.

1989 chevy g20 STALLING

Normally on chevy ignition modules when they go bad, they will quit when they get hot & after cooling down will work again, so when you have them tested they have cooled down. I would try changing it & see if it wont fix it.

Car shuts down while driving

It is very likely the part that is giving you the problem is a Crankshaft Position Sensor, they go open circuit when they get hot, then after it cools it becomes a good circuit again, this is very frustrating, had the same issue with my Buick a few years ago, replaced the coils and the ignition module at a cost of hundreds, DID NOT CHANGE A THING, the crank sensor fixed the problem and was $30.00 from Buick.
