Firebird Won't start

My 1999 firebird is not turning over. I tried jumping it but to no avail. All the lights and radio are lighting up so it looks like I have power. Any ideas?

Its most definetly the sensor in the key. It probily went bad. GO to a GM place and ask for a new chip and for them to add the sensor to the onbord computer.

Did you have the car towed recently, or did you jack it up? Sometimes that trips security feature

Very possible its the neutral safety switch. Try putting the car in neutral and turning the key. If it starts then I'd investigate the linkage and/or neutral safety switch. Best of luck.

Did some more digging. Need to know if the "Security" light is coming on. This could be a security issue preventing you from starting the car. Would like to rule it out before looking elsewhere.

Got it narrowed down to 3 possible causes:

    1. Neutral safety switch

    2. Bad starter solenoid

    3. Bad ignition switch

Wish I could narrow it down further but there's just so much diagnosis you can do remotely. Best of luck.

Car is 1994 firebird with 3.4.Ran when parked but now turns over and hits trying to start but goes to backfiring and wont start

Try spraying carb cleaner in throttle body , see if starts ! Do you have a security light on the dash ? How many miles on it ? And is the spark happening at the right time ? jumped time , timing chain !

89 firebird anti theft code won't let car start

If code 53 involves the PASS system for your car, the chip in the key has failed, or the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the control module.
The anti-theft system disables the starter and the fuel injectors. You could bypass those circuits to get the car started.

Why does my 99 firebird start tapping when accelerating?

First thing to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes to find out why the light is on.
That should give you a direction to look in for the other problem.

My 1998 Pontiac Firebird, 3.8 liter, won't start and has juice in the battery. When I try to start it, the break pedal seems to be locked up.

Did you try to jump start it with another car?
Could be a number of things---Dirty battery ends, loose battery ends, loose or bad ground cable, bad cell in the battery or starter going bad ect....

How to reset my oil change light in a 99 firebird 3.8

You do this via the trip odometer. With engine on, push in and turn trip odometer to the left and hold for about 5-7 seconds. The light will start blinking, keep holding until the blinking stops and you should be good to go.
