Power windows and locks will not work

I have a 98 durango and the problem is: all the power windows will not work and the door locks will only activate from the passenger side switch or the keyfob. Any thoughts and if so how would i fix the problem?

This could well be ground wire problem. make shure the groudn wire of the main window switch block (usualy a brown or black wire) has a low resistance to the car bare metal.

also this could a brake in the + power line of switch block. check that a full 12v plus voltage is present at the switchblock. (i would guess the + line is the main problem)

also this could be a broken wire or a not perfectly seated contactat for these two lines.

good luck.

1998 dodge durango. both the power windows and door locks stopped working. any suggestions?

They are on two different circuits. The windows are on a 25amp circuit breaker, and the door locks are on a 20amp fuse.
The door locks go thru a central timer module but the windows don't.
Have you checked for power and ground at the driver's door switch ?

How do I remove the tailgate trim from 1998 durango? My tailgate will not open, not with a key, or automatic lock it just won't open. Thinking it needs a new actuator, but i can't access it to...

If you can get the hatch unlocked and opened, you can remove the interior panel and unplug the factory powered door lock. This will not do anything to your security systems. The only down fall is it will only open with the key. If the hatch doesn't work with the key either, I would say you need a new lock assembly. I have shaved my door handles and have removed the power door lock, so I know it will work just fine ( I depend solely on my shave door handle system and my security system (Viper) to access my truck) - from Dakota-Durango.com Lots of info there..I agree with losing the power opening option if you have it...I am renewing a 98 Durango and its keys all the way...needed new lift struts for the rear hatch tho..(that thing is very heavy...I HAD to have help installing the new struts, I had held it up with my skull to remove the worn ones....definitely use E-Bay for parts search and full synth oil w/Lucas synth additive will make the motor happy.Hope things work out....

My 2000 Durango electrical/wiring problems...

The power lock problem is definately the electric lock actuator in the door. Replace it.
The power window problem could be the switch or the motor.
Put a test light on the motor connections. Operate the power window switch up and down. If the light works both directions, then replace the motor. If the light only lights one direction, then replace the switch... and you still might have to replace the motor afterward so do not think that replacing the switch is absolute. They sometimes fail together.

Single power window switches dont work

Replace the drivers door window/lock control unit in the door.
I had the same exact issue and it is not a connection issue. I
never left the window open in the rain but the control unit did have some rust on it.
