code reports something about oxygen sensor.

  • geanetha May 29, 2009

It's a 6 cylinder engine. I will have it tested today and let you know the code. Thank you sooo much!!!!

By the way, what engine size do you have?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

I would have guess oxygen sensors.  It should be telling you which one it actually is and that is the one that you need to change.  Oxygen sensors are vital to making sure that your car is running smoothly.  They can also help a lot on gas mileage when they are working properly.  If you have the code number I can let you know which one you need to change.  Let me know.  Thanks, Keith.

Pull the exhaust off and see if it runs better, if it does it needs catylitic converters- could also have bad fuel injectors.

My 1999 ford escort lx is jolting when accelerating and when idling it feels like it wants to die but doesnt

Water in gas, plugged fuel injector, plugged fuel filter, bad plugs or wires. Its tune-up time! Start with the easy stuff and go from there. Hopefully it's an easy fix.
Could also be plugged catalytic convertercatalytic converter or bad torque converter

Missfire #5cld on 1999 ford taurus3.0 ohv

A possible solution is to pull the plug wires off and inspect the inside of the boots . Even though they may be new, on occasion a plug wire can be missing the metal clip inside the boot. This has happened to me before. The cylinder still fired but it was a weak spark and seemed like a misfire.

CHUGGING ALONG WITH FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT....???? 2002 FORD WINDSTAR WHERE TO BEGIN

A flashing Check Engine light means you have a ignition Misfire, start by replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires, one or more is defective. If you have a electronic engine control fault code reader the cylinder or cylinders that are misfiring will set a fault code, the codes are P0300-P0306, the last number being the number of the cylinder ( cylinders 1-6) the computer has detected a misfire in.

I have a 96 ford taurus and the check engine light is flashing on and off and is putting like a truck.

The flashing service engine light indicates a misfire. You probably need a tune up. Replace the spark plugs and plug wires. That should be done every sixty thousand miles. The fuel filter should be replaced every two years. Get the engine computer scanned for free at Auto Zone and post the codes here for more help.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer that just hit 190,000 miles yesterday and runs fantastic. Earlier this week, I had a tune up done. Today the check engine light began flashing, stays solid for a while, goes...

any time the check engine light is flashing it is the on-board computer telling you that the engine is misfiring, i think i would take it back to whom done the tune-up sounds like they may have cracked a spark plug or damaged a plug wire when they tuned it up.

Check engine light on

When the check engine light flashes this is a class a misfire. If this is a 1999 you have a spark plug or a spark plug wire bad. Get a tune up done and replace plug wires.
