Question about 1994 Toyota Camry

ABS LIGHT ON / BAD WHEEL SPEED SENSOR / HOW TO REPLACE

My 1994 Camry 6v 4 door has developed a strange condition. It was sitting for 2 months and at start up every thing functions normally. On braking the lamp out indicator light and reverse lights both light up. On braking while driving there is also a loud thumping /vibrating noise when slowing but only from 40 km to 20 km and only in drive or over drive. The noise and vibration is not present when braking in neutral or 1st or second gear. There are no burnt out light bulbs. Tyranny fluid is clean and has been changed frequently. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

SOURCE: Hey Frank- yeah, my mechanic

Ask your mechanic to check the light bulb sockets and see if they are shorting out, if it set in damp weather it is possible for the lead on the bulbs to corrode and short out like your talking about, and have him check that all the springs in the bulb socket are still good and the rubbers are not worn out or shorted from one side to the other. a two lamp bulb looks like this on the back side 00 and it is made of lead solder and can vibrate and flatten out and cause it to short out and give you the same problem you are speaking of, I have found this on a few dozen cars and the older they get the more prone they are to have that happen. and as for the vibration you may have a tire that went bad have them rotated and balanced, it's worth a shot,

Abs pump comes on every time i depress the brake pedal on 1994 jaguar xj6

this sounds like wheel speed signal error, check all 4 tyres are the same size, check all 4 wheel speed sensors/wiring, the sensor resistance should be 900 to 1100 ohms, the rear sensors are favorite they sit in the top of the alloy rear hub carrier the alloy grows around the sensor and crushes it,also check the sensors are not shorted to ground, the reluctor rings could be loose/damaged, other than that you need access to suitable diagnostic gear to aid locate the problem, hope this helps.

Abs light stays on 1994 chevy caprice

It likely needs a new unit, that models ABS unit is not servicable. If it stayed out, then came on AFTER you started driving then it would be a bad wheel speed sensor, but no such luck if it's always on.

My chevrolet equinox 2005 abs ligh is on. after scanning the solution was to replace the speed sensor. Also brakepads has been replaced . the computer has been resetted. but afterwards the pedal keeps...

Theres a problem with a speed sensor at the wheels, there are four abs sensors one on each wheel and they read the wheel speed of each wheel, what is happening is that when you step on the brake the computer is reading the speeds of each wheel and sees one wheel is moving slower than the other and thinks that whell is skidding so intern its release the braks very very fast and thats the vibration you are feeling but the wheel is not skiding theres a problem with a sensor thats giving a flase reading, a scan tool will be needed to be conected to the compuetr and truck driven to see which sensor is bad or acting up, hope this is helpful. some times it can be dangerous if it keeps releasing the brakes while you are trying to stop.have this checked out.

ABS LIGHT ON / BAD WHEEL SPEED SENSOR / HOW TO REPLACE

You can do it yourself. One bolt. Check the plug and wires before you replace the sensor. A stick or whatever can break a wire and the sensor reads bad, but really it just needs a wire. Worth a quick look before you spend the $ on a new part.
