I have a 2001 dodge durango. the horn works when i set the alarm but does not work from the steering wheel at all.

The horn has power all of the time but does not go off untill it is grounded. The switch in the steering wheel is the ground when you press it completing the circuit and sounding the horn. The alarm does not use the steering column or steering wheel ground path to "beep" the horn, it uses its own ground. The problem then will more than likely be in the steering column, steering wheel switches, or clock-spring. The clock spring is not for the clock. It is a spiral-wound wire set that allows the steering wheel to turn and not bind up the wires going into the steering wheel. It is called a clock-spring due to the "spiral" wound design of the connector. The horn ground wire in the steering wheel gets its connection through this clock-spring, so it may the source of your problem. It would require some electrical diagnostics to verify the actual point of failure.

The running lights on my boat trailer are not functioning. I am not getting the voltage for the running lights circuit from the harness attached to my 2001 Durango I have checked the harness and...

You might be dealing with a grounding problem- better stated, a lack of grounding problem. If your trailer wiring doesn't have a dedicated ground wire, the trailer relies on the hitch continuity to complete a grounding circuit to the towing vehicle. You can test this idea a couple of different ways:
1. Unhook the trailer from the Durango, remove your hitch / ball and wire brush the daylights out of it. It may be corroded badly enough that it keeps your trailer from grounding back to the Durango.
2. When you're hooked up to the trailer and the lights are on, use a piece of wire to touch bare metal on both the trailer and the Durango at the same time. This will provide a grounding path and show whether or not this is a problem.

If this isn't the problem, your vehicle may have a fuse that protects the trailer light circuit. Check your manual for information.

Good luck to you.

This happened to me when we got our 99 Durango back from collision work. Looked like a light show at Disney. Check the ground wires on the fire wall . There are alot of them and you'll have to really look for them all but your car is doing exactly what mine did. The body shop missed 4 ground wires during the repair and it drove me nuts but once they were all back on it was fine.

Is the ground for the engine and the battery clean and working properly check at point of connection with test light to see if all grounds are OK and make sure no positive cable are bare and touching metal causing a ground fault and blowing fuse . check wires at battery and going to starter some times wires will burn through and touch other wires or metal causing a direct ground. good luck

I have a fisher minute mount and one headlight dim

A poor ground. Check the ground wire inside the light housing itself and then make sure it is getting a good ground where it mounts to the plow frame. Hope this helps.
