HP Pavillion a712n Desktop PC-CD writable drive space all used up; and it wont recognize blank CD

HP a712n Desktop PC My e drive, which is the writable disc drive, does not recognize any blank discs inserted, and cannot copy to disc. I looked at Properties of the Drive and find that all space is used, no more free space left. (Completely blue graph circle). How can I free up space and enable my drive to write on CD again? All the enabling actions have been set, yet it wont recognize a blank disc. Thanks. mj_hess2004

Now, if everything fails, maybe it's a mechanical or electronic problem with your device. I had this problem with my player and simply, eplaced it with an MP3 player.. Store in my 8 Gb prendrive about 6000 files. I use a bitrate of 48 kbps VBR in WMA (most MP3 players recognize Windows Media Audio format, delivering a better sound) more then enough for a perfect playback needed for casual listening while I drive.

My cd player in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS (factory) is no longer reading my CD-R burned CD's. I have had this car since 2003 and it has never had this problem before. The CD itself is not the problem...

Grab a cleaning disc it is shaped like a regular cd but it has a row of soft bristles on the bottom side for this exact purpose. another thing I want you to try is use a different brand of writable disc and lower the burning speed. let me know if this fixes this issue.

HP PAVILION a6000n with lightscribe supermulti drive / cd writer---windows vista :: does not recognize dvd disc when inserted

If it fails to recognize and CD or DVD that's inserted you will need to reinstall the driver for your LightScribe. The factory drivers for your system can be found here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3548643

If it fails to recognize just one CD or DVD, chances are that the disc is defective.

New drive not working

I think perhaps you will find the drive does not have the proper driver support. Go to Control panel, system, device manager. Any red Xs or yellow asterisks? This means Windows does not recognize the device. You can delete the offending device and Windows should try to reinstall it, or click update driver, or do a search for drivers by model number. If you get the right driver, the drive is good, and Windows recognizes it okay, you should be good to go. I am also assuming you have burner software that will work with that drive. I hope this helps lead you to your problem.
