I think your transmission shift solenoid 1-2 has failed, meaning that it cannot find low gear. It is an inexpensive repair, but the car has to go on a hoist, and have the trans pan removed.

My toyota Highlander is showing CHECK VSC light

First check and make sure your gas cap is tight, if this does not resolve the problem read below.A vacuum hose has become disconnected, more than likely due to having your air filter replaced. The VSC and Check engine light typically don't come on until after 150-200 miles after the vacuum hose was pulled out The fix: on the right-hand-side of the engine compartment behind the big plastic housing that holds the air filter you will find a black rubber hose that is not connected to anything. Squeeze the finger clamp on the hose and slide the hose back onto the half inch nipple on the back of the air filter's plastic housing In order for the VSC and Check engine light to be turned off, you will need to open the fuse box, right-side of the engine compartment, and pull the 20 amp EFI fuse for 10 seconds. This will reset the system. The fuse location is marked on the lid of the fuse box, also I believe the EFI fuse is the only 20 amp fuse.(and after you're sure nothing is really wrong with your car), try resetting the "maintenance required" display by setting first your ODO display to the ODO setting. Turn off your engine. While pressing and holding down the ODO button, turn your key to the ON position. The display will do this weird blinking action then it'll go back the ODO reading. No more "maintenance required" display.

What could be the cause if the transimission isnt wanting to go in gear

I had one of these vans (and had the transmission rebuilt). If the fluid is low the
transmission pickup will not work, it is mounted fairly high in the pan, also
mine began to slip a year after the rebuild (by a national shop) so I pulled the pan
and the pickup tube for the filter had worked itself loose allowing air into the
transmission causing this condition. I hope this is the case for yours since it's cheaper to
fix.

I have a 2002 mustang GT 5 speed, and it grinds going into 3rd gear, every other gear is fine, any suggestions? thanks steve

these are just some suggestions to help diagnose, 1. check gear oil level low level can cause gear free spin if not efficient amount of gear oil causing a grind as entering gear. 2. If you do some agressive driving, or rest your foot on the clutch frequently while driving, can cause excessive heat in clutch causing warpage of clutch or flywheel, once it is warped will cause vibration to transmission causing shifting issues sometimes only in one gear if you have a service boot on your transmission bell housing you can pull this of and monitor smoothness of clutch an fly wheel while running and tranny in nuetral excessive runout is a sign of something warped. 3. is not so not easy most of the time third gear is the main gear for the syncronizers, generally the first gear to show issues when they are failing, The transimission would have to be pulled torn apart and inspected to truly diagnose this as your problem. Good luck

Transmision ax4n not working

Possible bad valve body in transmission or a clogged transimission filter. The only way to check either is to pull the transmission pan.

The Transimission light is coming on, when you move the automatic **** into drive the gauge does not show that is goes to Drive or any other gear. Seems to run, but no recoginition. Is this the computer?...

Check your fuses under the hood. There are several that could potentially affect your transmission range sensor and would cause this concern. You'd be best to just check them all real quick with a test light. To do this, turn your key to the on position and connect the test light clamp to the negative battery terminal. On the tops of all the fuses there are 2 little metal tabs that stick up through the plastic. Touch these with the probe end of the test light. If it lights up on both of them, the fuse is good. If it only lights up on one side, the fuse is blown. If it lights up on neither side then the circuit is not powered up, but this may be normal. Some circuits only become energized under very specific conditions. The ones that go to the range sensor should be powered up whenever the key is in the on position.
