Oil light comes on and dings all day

My oil light comes on and dings when i stop, then goes off when I go again. I checked the oil level a few times when it did this, but it has always been at the correct level. It was overdue for an oil change so I thought maybe the filter was just too dirty and throwing the sensors off when I stopped. I had the oil changed, but it is still doing the same thing. Any ideas? oil ligt comes on and dings all day tryed changing the oil and filter even a tuneup need advice

If engine is not ticking or knocking while running, likely the pressure sender is faulty. If changing it makes no difference, have actual pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.

My car is a 2006 Suzuki forenza manual with 67k miles on it. It just had an oil change a few months ago with a new filter as well. I didn't drive the car for a few days while the temperature was...

Suzuki should have stayed with just motorcycles. Anyway, You just had the oil changed. Check and see if they changed the filter also. They may have forgot or were just to lazy. Just a chance the oil filter is bad, I would replace it again(is the oil clean on the dipstick?). Add a higher viscosity oil. At 67,000 miles, you would have to drive dirt roads all the time, with no air filter to get sludge to clog the head ports. Which is slow drain of oil to the pan. The oil pump? well it could be, most likely not. I would say the oil sending unit is bad, but the knocking noise kind of throws that off. Knocking is bad, if it happens again, pull off and shut the engine down. One other thing to watch is the temperature gauge. getting really hot will cause knocking. Check coolant level and the thermostat.

2004 Chrysler Pacifica oil light on and dinging

This is the pressure light I think. Have that looked into RIGHT AWAY before you burn out the bearings in the engine.

Good Evening there are a few different things that can be the culprit. First off it could be the oil pressure sending unit, which is a good possibility or the oil pump. Either way the best way to find out is to go to the local parts store and get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and screw it in where the oil pressure sending unit goes most sensors fail however if working the light will come on below 5 or 7lbs of pressure. That is the best place to start. Hope this helps and remember if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

The problem is either of two things. Either the mechanical oil pump filter is clogged or you have a bad oil pressure switch.
There is a design flaw with the mechanical oil pump. It needs to be have the mesh filter on the oil pump cleaned and the return tube needs to be bored out. If the problem persist check the oil pressure switch. You have to remove the front suspension to get to both so do both at the same time. Anywhere from 250.00 to 600.00 for this job.

Your oil sensor may be faulty, or your may have a leak since you said the fluid level is okay.

Oil light comes on

this is an oil pressure light, most likely the sending unit for the gauge is defective, but I do recommened a shop hook up a oil press test gauge and verify u do't really have low oil pressure, then if that tests ok replace the sending unit on the engine.

My 1999 pontiac grand am will idle low, but does not cut off.

Sounds like your oil pressure sensor may be faulty. Or your oil level is very low. Your engine should idle as low as 650 rpm without your light coming on.
