The abs control module is located under the hood, on the drivers side, below the master cylinder on the fenderwell. Replacing it can be a hassle, as first you have to break free all the steel brake lines going to it, and it's a bit of a pain to bleed. It has to be done a certain way, or it won't operate normally.

Where is the ABS module located on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Hi,

The ABS module is located on the drivers side inner wheel well (under the hood) and mounted vertically. The black electrical connector has a silver clasp on it you have lift the silver clasp and pull the connector off the module.

Thank you !!

Mazda yr 2000 Premacy. After parking car up for a few months both the brake and ABS warning lights are on. Car brakes seem to work OK

Your ABS control module has failed. It can fail in two areas.. either the fuse controlling it which is a large fuse and located in the engine cmpartment on most vehicles or the actual ABS actuator control module which is a computer driven box located on bottom of vehicle that pumps the brakes to make them antilock (think how in the 70s you were told to pump brakes, now the car pumps its own brakes) The computer module is what burns out leaving you without ABS but not brakes themselves. Your car indicates this by showing you an ABS error light and a brake light. You are not in danger by driving the vehicle you just will NOT have antilock brakes in the event of an accident and could slide if you lock the brakes by slamming them down. Check your owners manual for the fuse location in your vehicle and inspect it. If its burned out replace it and see if this fixes the problem This is a 3-7 dollar fuse. If that doesnt do the trick unfortunately the repair is very expensive 700+ dollars for a new control unit.

Brake fluid is not getting to the rear brakes. The master cylinder is working. I do not know if the ABS is working, probably not since the ABS warning light is on in the dash. Could the proportioning valve...

there more than likely air in the abs system and there should be bleeders on the abs module try bleeding the abs system first then once you have good fluid there then bleed the rear brakes again

Here is a Problem for you all! 2000 Grand Am GT ram air v6 ABS and Brake light always on, No trouble codes, and no rear brakes at all key on or off. Has fluid at M/C and to ABS unit but not from unit to...

This problem sounds like and ABS module that has gone bad, the ABS module has toothed gears inside that actuate the ABS motor, if one of these gears slips a tooth or "unwinds" itself if will not circulate brake fluid to where it needs to go (ex: the rear brakes) alot of times the brake and ABS light will come on, but will not set any trouble codes. My recommendation is to take this to a repair shop and have them verify the problem and replace the ABS module, the motor gears have to be properly aligned when replacing or the lights will stay on and you will still have the same problem. Hope this helps.

My abs light and trac off light are both on

Def the wheel bearings/hub/speed sensor. I just bought a new wheel bearing comes with the hub and speed sensor as one. Runs about 80-100 dollars though but abs/traction light went off and stays off now.
