2002 Chevy Silverado ran out of gas, now won't start!

My 2002 Silverado ran out of gas so I put a few gallons in but now it will still not start. I have heard that I need to get gas into the carburetor but I do not know how to do this. Is this something that is relatively simple to do?

You have no carburetor in that truck. you have a fuel injection system. Check the fuse to the fuel pump to see if it's bad. The other thing that may have gone bad is the fuel pump and that's in the gas tank. If you are going to have to change the fuel pump, it may be easier to lift the box from the rails to get to the top of the gas tank. The other way is to drop the tank.
When you turn the ignition key to the run position you should hear the fuel pump run  for about 3 seconds. If you don't then most of the time it's going to have to be changed. The fuel pump is electric and the only thing that keeps it from burning up is the fuel in the tank. A low fuel gas tank will have a hotter running fuel pump.
The other thing too that is the fuel filter may be dirty and plugged up. it's located under the drivers side on the inside frame rails. You may want to try changing the filter first if the pump is working and has at least 60 to 65 pounds of pressure to activate the fuel injectors.
Good luck and hope this helps.

If you have a schrade valve on the fuel rail, you can turn the key on and carefully depress the valve to bleed most of the air out of the system (valve is inside an aluminum or plastic cap similar to those found on your air conditioning system) You don't have a carb on there you have a throttle body...you can spray carb cleaner (not either) into it while cranking and it may help.
Sometimes though, a marginal fuel pump will give up when run dry of fuel. If pump cannot be heard with key on, check fuse and relay...if good, pump may have expired. also, make sure filter is able to flow fuel before replacing pump.

Was low on fuel, got fuel. 2002 silverado began to bog down and eventually quit. Finally got it started after it sat a while. What could be the problem.

I have a question, is your truck gas engine or diesel,
If Gas, you have injector system not carburetor, which may mean that your pump is bad or the fuel filter or injectors can be plugged, if not these you should be getting fuel to the engine you can check by taking the cap of the pressure valve located on the fuel rail, when you press the valve and you have pressure the gas will shut out and hit the hood.
If it's diesel and you put gas in, it will not run, you'll have to drain the tank and fuel system and add fresh diesel. If you added diesel then you'll have to prime the injectors and the primer is locate on the right side firewall. Press the primer several time and try to start. If it dosen't start press primer again and again until it starts.

This may be a fuel injected engine. On some vechicles when they run out of gas you have to turn the key, but not try to start the car. Give it a few seconds for the gas to feed back through the gas line. Once you turn the key, the fuel pump will start pumping the gas to the engine for the carburator. If that does not work, then give it a little gas, no too much or you could flood the carburator. Try to start the car again.

Hi ! a easy way to possibly help this is to get a can of sea foam at the parts store and dump it in your tank it may help dissolve any goop that is in there and it helps renew bad gas ,also if this does not help remove your fuel filter and blow through it it may now have gotten a bit gumped up ,not a bad idea if you havnt done that for a few years anyway ,mostly the sea foam should help!

Remove the air cleaner and pour about a quarter cup of gasoline into the carburetor or throttle body. Do not stand near the engine when cranking it -- fire/small explosion hazard.
