I though of that. However, when it is in the re-circulation mode, it does not tick at all....even when the fan is blowing.

Hi I turn the heat on in my 06 dodge magnum I hear a ticking noise then goes away now no ticking noise and no heat

Could be your blend door getting stuck thats making that ticking noise. Check your heater hoses to make sure they are getting hot. Check with caution theu may be very hot.

Ticking behind glovebox

Does it sound like the noise the turn signal makes? Does the noise change if you change the speed of the blower motor? Do all the function of the heater work (defrost, vent, floor, recirculate, fresh air, hot, cold)?

Just had battery changed on '03 GMC Envoy. now I'm getting a clicking noise under dash, lasts about 30 seconds then stops. Garage said it would take a couple of days for computer to "reset...

This is a somewhat common problem with the HVAC door actuators, especially after a battery change. The repair can be fairly involved because it requires some dashboard disassembly.

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala. I ran my car with no oil and now I'm hearing a loud ticking/knocking noise coming from under my valve cover. I added 2 bottles of oil after finding out that I didnt have any...

might be the valves have been damaged running without oil
- or the crankshaft / camshaft / main bearings
most probably you have to let the engine be rebuilt by a mechanic
(expect cost of more than US$ 2.000)
or get another (used) engine at a scrapyard 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-0.jpg 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-2.jpg

Chevy 1500: turn the key and all I hear is tick tic-tic-tic-tic

sounds like you have a dead battery, have it jumped and have your battery and alternator checked. also have checked for a draw after vehicle is turned off.

I have a 57 reg ford focus and when I start the car after not using it for a number of hours the engine makes a ticking noise, any ideas what it might be

Yea, possible valve tic. all the oil is in the pan, your oil pump has to work it to the heads. Nothing to worry about if the tic goes away, and it sounds like it does.

Ticking Noise at Startup

Possibly a leaking hydraulic lifter. They can leak down while engine isn't running and then make a ticking noise for a while on startup. If it takes 10-15 minutes to go away, it is more likely to be a loose tappet which needs adjusting.

Loud ticking noise on startup

I would have you oil pressure checked. The oil pump or bearings could be going out. The lifter noise on this car usually will go away faster then 5 minutes. I think the noise is lasting a little to long.

ThenI start my engine it sounds like diesel and no power

how is the oil level and pressure?, how many miles on engine? is this a loud knock or rather a clatter/ticking noise? knock is engine rod or crankshaft bearings, clatter loud ticking is valve follower noise. how long before it (the noise) goes away?
