Question about 1998 Buick Regal

1 Answer

Slipping in 1at gear

I have a 1998 buick regal gs supercharge, it started slipping in 1st gear a few days ago. when i am at a stop light and if i press the gas too much its like it is not gripping on the gears if i barelly press the gas till i am in 2nd it does not do it, it only does it in 1st once i get passed 1st it seems alright so far. is there any other possible solutions than replacing the transmission, for they are pretty expensive for this car, and for what i paid for it, it just don't seem like i should put that much money in the vehicle..

Just check the buttom of the pulleys or buttom of the car for leaks or tensioner pulley , sometimes bearings in tensioner wear out i had similar issue with gear slipping it happened to be a leaky water pump and antifreeze getting on the pulleys while the car is running, causing belt to slip and tranny slip feel similar as you described , i replaced belt and water pump and no more issue

I smell coolant

if you can smell it it must be in the cab andf the only way the coolant can leak in there is throuhg the heater matrix which is located under the dashboard, a way to find out is to check the floor for any excess moisture. if this is the case then it will def be that.

It's probably an alternator, or an alternator fuse.

Buick Regal Gs supercharger nose assembly please help if you can

the 3.8" supercharger (belt) pulley? You need a special tool as they are press fit.
www.intence-racing.com and www.3800performance.com

both carry it and offer the tool for rent as well.

Much of the noise comes from the coupler, however there are case (needle) bearings as well that wear, Those are much more difficult to replace.
