The belt tensioner is responsible for keeping proper tension on the belt... a likely cause for the squeel is a belt slightly too long or a defective belt.

Hello, My name is Jessica. I have a 90 bronco 5.8

I had the exact same problem with my 1999 Chevy Cavalier . I finally took the mounting bracket for the tensioner pulley off . I found that the "boss" , that is a raised portion on the bracket that the bolt "axel" for the tensioner threads into was cracked allowing the tensioner to lean outwards on an angle . This then would not produce enough tension to properly tighten the belt .It is , I know, quite exasperating but you cannot see or even feel this crack without removing this bracket . You may also have to remove some accessories that are mounted through this bracket . It took me about 1 1/2 hrs. to complete this project .GOOD LUCK !!

I just had my pully belt changed it was making a squeaking noise when i start it up there is no noise but after the car warms up it makes a little squeaking noise not as loud as before but still there and...

Not familiar with bmw, but a squeal like that means that the belt isn't tight enough. Probably didn't get tensioned enough when the new belt was put on.

I changed the belt to my 03 ion and now the car sounds. Like it is struggling to turn over almost as if the tension pulley is to tight and won't let the car crank what should. I try next

Did you drive it after changing the belt? If so, it might not be tight enough ( not tight enough to run the alternator to charge the battery) or it is routed improperly. I've never seen an engine that couldn't crank because the belt was too tight.

Replaced the alternator on a 2001 Chevy Metro LSI and now I cannot seem to achieve proper belt tension, the belt squeaks very loudly, I applied belt dressing and tried several settings of tight and loose...

Belt dressing isn't advised for vechiles with serpatine belts. they are ment for the old V style belts. Use brake cleaner, carb cleaner to clean off the belt. Then recheck to see if everything is routed the correct way. Check the pulley on the new altenator. Is it the same size as the old one? If not, repalce with old pulley. These three items are the usual cause of poor tension. The tensionor could be going bad too but that isn't a very likely occurance.

make sure tension on belts is tight enough that you do not get more then 1/2 of play when trying to push belt up and down.

AC Belt squeaks on my 2002 Lexus es300

When belts squeak it's either from dryness wear or tension / tightness / looseness affecting alignment.

Check for tightness and you can spray with belt dressing and try some WD40 on the compressor pulley.

If none of that doesn't stop it it very well could be the clutch or pulley is stiff from non use and could need replacing soon.

03 chevy 1500 sqealing when a/c on replaced pulley did not fix it. A/c quit yesterday any ideas... Compresor?

sounds like belt is loose and when load is put on it it just slips and wont engage the compressor and it will squeak. try tightening the belt or check to make sure your tensioner isnt bad

Belt squeaks when AC turns on

Your belt is not tight enough. Are you using the power steering pump to adjust? (right way) or doing something else? Keep tension on the pump and tighten the pivot bolt first.

Timing belt tensioner stuck in tight position

Have you loosened the bolt that secures the adjustment? if so spray the whole thing with wd40 and let it set awhile, then GENTLY pry it back and forth to break it loose. Make sure you clean off the wd40 before imstalling the belt.
