Check bulbs first ,then unplug brake switch ,if the swith plug has 2 wiring running into it, use a thin wire to bridge the 2 wires of the plug and see if brake lights illuminate ,if they do work by bridging the wires with ignititon on , it is more than likely the switch at fault

Testimonial: "Thanks but the switch has 6 or 7 pins! Go figure."

Fix cruise control on my 2009 Chevy tahoe

Most common failure (other than fuse) is the switch at the brake pedal which kicks it out of cruise. Switch must be in correct position and adjusted such that it is depressed fully when brake pedal is up.

Check the brake light switch on the brake pedal. See if there is power going in, and operate the pedal and check for power coming out of the switch.

99 Chevy Tahoe... Rear turn signals, brake lights, and hazards

I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!

Changed fuse and brake light still doesnt work

Did you check for voltage at the light socket before replacing the fuse?
Was the fuse blown? If so, you need to find out why it blew. (fuses do not blow for no reason) If not, why did you replace it?

Did you check for voltage in and out of the brake switch? Brake switch failures are common on Dodge trucks. There should be voltage going in, but none coming out the other side until the brake pedal is depressed. If there is voltage going in, the fuse is not blown. If there is still no voltage on the other side when the brake pedal is depressed, then the brake switch is your problem-child.

The next step is to check for voltage in and out of the multifunction switch. (turn signal switch) The brake lamp voltage is switched on and off by the turn signal switch. Failure of the turn signal switch can cause a "no brake light" symptom. This is a common failure among most makes of vehicles. This failure can often be verified by stepping on the brake pedal and wiggling the turn signal switch. If the brake lights flicker on and off while doing this, the mutifunction switch needs to be replaced.

All 3 brake lights went out on my 2006 chevy tahoe at the same time and the fuses are fine, any ideas?

Probably the brake light switch. It should be located below the brake pedal close to the firewall. When you push the brake pedal down, it activates the switch. The switch can be tested with an ohm meter or multimeter. Also look for damaged or disconnected wiring. Sure hope this helped and good luck.

1998 tahoe brake lights don't work replaced switch still dont work touch and go

There is a clip that gets worn on the brake pedal that holds the switch tight to one side. It must be put on correctly or else the brake lights will come on for a split second and then go out when you push the brake pedal down further.

Brake lights don't stay on when I press on brake pedal. I have a 1998 chevy tahoe. Can someone help?

Stay on or go on when brake peddle is used?  If there is no brake lights check the fuse, and there is a brake light switch by the blrake peddle arm. Check the wire and check to see if the switch need to be re adjusted. Worst youmight have to replace the switch. Good Luck

Brake lights not working

pretty common issue with the Tahoe/Yukon is the bulb holder...mine both went out at the same time as well...you can buy the bulb holder at any parts store, most have these on hand. They hold all 3 bulbs (lights, brakes/turn signal) and are a simple replace...most likely will fix your problem!
