Most likely needs a wiper motor- the relay and all other elec. parts are part of the motor itself. hope this helps and good luck

Ihave a 2003 Ford Explorer & the windshield wipers won't stop working, with the switch turned off or even removed. The only way to stop them is to remove the battery cable.

Sounds like the park switch in the wiper motor is bad. Some manufacturers allwo you to change the circuit board seperately from the motor, sometimes they have to be changed as a unit

1999 Ford Escort ZX2. The wipers continue to run with the switch in the off position. Have tried another switch.

Hello, there are contacts inside the Wiper motor. The contact that puts the wipers into the off cycle is likely grounded or burnt. If you see a removable plastic panel you may be able to spray some WD40 into the circuits of the Wiper motor and get it to work.

There is a cam which derails the contact points to put your motor in the Park (stop) position. The cam is suppose to lift the points open. If the points are too burnt, wet, or the cam does not turn, the wipers will stay running.

Since you replaced the switch you probably need a motor if you can not repair the old one. Try cleaning any ground wire you see on the case and retighten the bolt. If that final trick does not work, you need a motor.

The windshield wipers, the power windows and the heat/AC stopped working at the same time on my '95 ford Escort.

based on what I see in the ford electrical manual. The ignition switch is the only thing the windows, wipers and heat have in common. I would test for power at the black and red wire with the key on. If there is no power I would replace the switch.

OFF/Low/High Speed
  • Has a two-speed, permanent magnet, three brush electric windshield wiper motor .
  • The windshield wiper motor has a brush rigging that permits selection of low or high speed.

When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is in the interval position:
  • The wipers make single wipes separated by pauses.
  • The rotary switch is on the end of turn signal and windshield wiper switch .
  • The length of the pause can be set from approximately 1 to 17 seconds.
  • Length of pause decreases as the rotary switch is rotated away from off.
  • Length of pause increases as the rotary switch is rotated toward off.
While in the interval wiper mode:
  • It is normal to hear a slight click at the beginning of each on/pause cycle. NOTE: When using interval wipers, the first wipe may not occur until after a pause of up to 17 seconds.
