In a pinch, I agree, use a compression fitting. But that is even harder than doing it the right way. After cutting the line, you have to have it perfectly round. By working with the already rusty metal, you are now fatiguing the metal. Then add on the compression, and added weight, and you get yourself a weak point.

The easiest way is to by the right length line or lines (It is far better to have more than less), the couplers (if needed), and any special adapters you may need (ie 3/16 standard flare to 1/4 bubble flare.) Take with you the ends and a section of line. The line is not that expensive ($7 for the longest.)

Start running the line, one section at a time, making sure to keep the ends on the end. When you need to make a bend, DO NOT make a tight bend that crimps the line. Discard the line if this happens. If you have a tool, use it. Other wise use you hand to make, gentle bends. Connect one end and connect the couplers, if used. When you get to the other side, wind the excess around a spiral. Secure with wire or existing retainers.

This is way safer than a compression fitting, and not all that hard. Remember to bleed the brakes

Not the recommended way, but you can use a compression fitting on both ends. Cut out the bad section of line, replace with a new line and compression fittings. Should be available at the local parts store.

How to replace breakline 1998 Nissan frontier

You have two choices, either replace the whole line, or just cut the bad part out with a tubing cutter, then purchase a pre-made line the same size & length that you cut out, you can take the old line to the auto store & match it. While your there, you also need to couplers, which are female on both ends and 2 male connectors that will fit into the couplers you just bought.. Now you'll also need a double flaring tool (cheap at Harbor Freight).The brake line that's still on the car, you want to dry & either emery cloth or steel wool the ends where you made the cuts. Now slide 1 male connector on each side, then double flare each end of the tubing. once that's done you can put your new female couplers on each end, then connect the new length of tubing you just purchased to both couplers , the new tubing already has new male connectors , and is already flared for you. Not a hard job if you have the flaring tool. good luck. Don't forget to bleed the system when done.

My brake line on my 97 tarus blew out under my driver door in a "little back box" thing. How do i take it off the frame of my car to replace a part of the line..

You will need to take a look at the line from front to rear, this job can get big fast, and if you have ABS (anti locking brakes ) it makes it harder, if you can see a good part of the line where it can be cut and flared with an end then cut it there, the black box is just a plastic cover. that cover holds the dirt and water and makes the lines rust sooner, i do these lines all the time and most of the time i run new lines from front to the rear brake hose , most of the time if there is another weak spot then you will be doing the job again and again.

you will need brake line a flaring tool, a bubble or double flaring tool to make the line ends and fittings and connectors, you will need to bend the line by hand and when your done you will need to bleed the brake system.

How to fix broken brake oil hose attached to the wheel brake

If the hose is a flexible hose, you simply replace it with a new one. If a steel tube, then a replacement will need to be made up. You local better brakes will be able to do this for you as they have the tube and the double flaring tool.

Metal line running from side to side in brake system has ruptured. part# requested to price!

this line is not sold as a ready make line, u must buy bulk brake line (3/16" ID) and make the line up, u need a tubing bender and a special tool called a tubing double flaring tool, the tools and the tubing will run u about $150, u can have a shop do it for less.

Need to locate a new or fix a brake line that sprung a leak just rear of yhe flex tubing from the ABS box to the left rear block to the rear wheels.

u can't buy brake lines already made to install, u must buy straight tubing from any full service auto parts store and make them from scratch

Rear brake line developed a leak. can i just replace the small broken section or do i need to replace the whole line?

you can replace only the short section if you like using compression connector and they are easy to find them at the hardware store,or do the whole line since they are no really expensive,the whole deal would cost aroun 20 or 25 bucks (parts only)

I have a 1992 Buick regal.3.8L engine where can I find a fuel line for the model.

You can pay a fortune for a premade one at the dealer or you can go to your local parts place and buy steel brake line. It's the samestuff. You can get it with ends in various lengths or by the foot and put your own ends on.You will need to know the diameter of the existing line to get the right size and how long a piece you need. If you want to put your own ends on you will need a double flare kit. Hope this helps.

Rusted Brake Lines

Yes pi is avery serious problem. If you are unfamiliar with shaping steel lines and double-flaring steel lines, leave it to a pro. After repairs are completed, brake system will need to be bled of air . Hope this helps
