Check and see the water pump or possible bad termostat..check the termostat first, less expensive..also check and see if there are any leaks from the radiator hoses..

Check the water pump and thermostat. Also check your hoses for leaks.

1997 vw cabrio driver door does not turn on dome light. Passenger side works fine. How do I troubleshoot and fix?

Check the switch in the door-jam. Little black plunger that pushes against door when closed, you'll probably find your driver doors switch is stuck in/or broken.

My 2001 volkswagen cabrio is leaking coolant from the front (passenger side) of the car, but leaks can only be seen after the car has been running. What could it be?

Almost certainly you have a leak from your heater core. this is like a mini radiator that usually lives under the dash on passenger side and is what supplies the heat to keep you warm on cold days.
I'm not familiar with your car, but heater cores are notoriously difficult to get at for replacement.
If you plan to do it yourself, then buy or borrow a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for your model. If yo're not that kind of guy, take to a shop - expect to be quoted $400 - 700 range.

I have a 1992 VW Cabriolet which leaks badly during heavy rain. Some small seepage comes in around the clamps at the top of the windshield, but the major leak occurs on the passenger side floor under the...

windshield seals are usually not the problem: Here's the secret: There are 2 round rubber drains that are meant to get water away from that firewall: Yours are clogged!
The solution is simple: Open the hood, look to both the left and right of your blower fan (that's where your water was coming from, by the way), check both and I promise you, they are both blocked. Now take a long screw driver and push trough any leaves or gunk in there and then take a garden hose and spray it into both holes and voila! No more water inside Cabby!
Enjoy your dry Cabrio! Cheers!

Where is the drain for the air conditioner? I have water in the passenger compartment. 1997 Park Ave.

Look under the car at the firewall. there should be a small plastic or rubber hose sticking down on the right hand side. Gently slide a pen or into it, and dislodge the dirt. A bunch of water usually comes out quick, so be ready to get out of the way.

Hope helps (remember rated and comment this).

Wont start when its wet outside, 2000 vw cabrio

Sounds electrical in some way. Check to see if you have any standing water in the cowl just below the windshield under the hood. If so, there is a hole about in the middle, that gets plugged with debrie if you park under a pine tree or something. Most likely near the side is where you ECM is mounted in a sealed box. With standing water, it can leak in from under the box. Make sure this is not your issue. Take a look at the condition of the terminals on your starter. The water can be causing a temorary short to some exposed wires or condensation.

I have a 1997 cavalier and this morning i looked under my car and there is a water leak under the passenger side of the engine, any idea? where is the water pump located?

The water pump is on the passenger side of the engine below the tensioner. Also look for coolant leaks from the head gasket.

91 gti 8valve overheating problem blows coolent smoke on the..

I'm not familiar with your model to know if you have an engine temp guage or a light that would come on if the engine is overheated. You said the motor wasn't overheating under the hood... but you have an overheating problem? Maybe just a tad bit more info...
Are you losing coolant?
The water pump if bad, would probably leak or make terrible racket.
Just to take a shot at it, since you said it blows smoke through the dash... I'm assuming a kindof white smoke with a rather sweet smell? Have you noticed any wetness on the passenger floor at all? If yes to any of this, I would suspect as you mentioned, a leaking heater core. Hope this helps... Good luck!
