Question about 1994 Dodge Ram
1992 dodge ramcharger. sometimes it will start no problem, sometimes not at all. when it runs, it runs great. i am assuming its a no spark issue, or at the very least electrical. when the truck is running and driving and i hit a pothole (new england roads) sometimes it will die, or almost die. sometimes if i whail on the gas pedal it will stay running. when it happens, its pretty much an all out shut-down, not a slow stall. after one of these episodes when it somehow gets running again, a few times when i have slammed the hood shut, oooops, it shuts down again. i am assuming when i do that i am knocking something loose. i have checked voltage at the coil and for once reason or another can't get a difinitive answer. voltage needs to be at the green/red wire, correct? the coil has resistances of 12.9 and zero, for primary and secondary. the zero resistance is no good i take it. then again it runs sometimes, so i'm doing a terrible job ruling out what the issue is. the crankshaft sensor has resistance of 6.something which i also think is out of spec. with all this considered, i'm having a hard time picking a place to start. add on top of that that its an intermitant problem and i don't know what to do. i refuse to just throw parts at it, not my style. i guess after reading some things on here i need to check the shut-down relay. any thoughts..bring it on! thanks in advance. While driving my 1990 Dodge Ram Charger Just died. It did not sputter or anything! After getting it off the road I was able to get it to turn over, but it would not stay started. Have changed the fuel filter, and still have the same problem. Any ideas??????
It is probably a crank or cam sensor/wiring issue. Check for excessive play in the distributor shaft for the cam sensor. Crank sensor should be on the bell housing of the trans on the passenger side upper.

if you are talking about the trans no! the 2wd trans has a longer output shaft than the 4x4 you can have the shaft changed so that it can work if you are having trouble finding a trans.
