If it's Black smoke thermostat likely it's some type of rubber. If you look see if there is liquid near where the smoke is, after it heats up lift the hood and look to see where the smoke is coming from if it's oil then you have a oil leak, I need to know what it smells like does it smell like motor oil or does it smell like rubber let me know and I will help you narrow it down, the inside light is coming on, do you have the light switch for dimming the dash lights turned all the way up? try turning on the lights and then dim it low the dash lights, then close the door if the light goes out that was your problem if not look on the door for a button where the door opens and pull the little kick panel off it has a couple of screws on it and once you remove it unplug the two wires and tape them up,the light should go out, if it does replace the panel and screws if it stays on do the same on the other side if you unplug the wires on that side and the light still stays on then your headlight switch will need to be changed is it a two or four door? if there are four doors any one of the switches could be bad and you would have to follow the procedures above till you find the one that is stuck on you can push the button in and if it springs back that means it's most likely ok so check them all before pulling the panel to remove the wires. Hope this helps. if one does not spring back thats the bad switch and they are cheep to replace. Get back to me if you need more help.

The smoke could be anything from burning oil to any other lubricant from the engine, just a small leak can cause an abundance of smoke, most commonly oil, the problem with the door ajar lamp is that you have probably lost the switch that mounts in the door jam, that is probably a dealership item you can buy it from them, simple repair.

How to install distributor cap on 1995 Caprice 4.3l v8

Is this opti spark? The distributor cap is on front side of engine? If the picture I looked at in manual is correct, the two large holes in cap goes toward the bottom. The coil tower is toward the top. Of the course the mounting screw holes have to line up. I found the picture in online partsbook.

Where is oil filter located on a 2006 bmw 525i

It uses a "cartridge filter" the cap to the filter is on the top side of the engine, normally towards the front. NOTE- The procedure is to remove the filter, drain the oil, replace drain plug and filter, refill with oil. Some models have a canister at the bottom towards the front. These are a little trickier as the material used for the canister are very brittle.

Where is the oil drain plug located on my 2003 VW Passat

At the bottom of the oilpan which is mounted to the bottom of the engine. Not sure if the plug is toward the front of the car or the rear, but it'll be around the bottom of the engine area. You have to access it from beneath the car.

Replace the headlight bulb

Remove the plastic access panel by pressing down on the tab at the top of the penel and pulling the top of the panel towards the engine and off. Needle nose pliers may help with the next steps to remove the spring clips. There are 2 bulbs, the top large bulb is the low beam. To remove it, first remove the socket attached to it, then press the top of the metal spring clip towards the front of the car and towards the passenger side (look closely at the clip to see the latch holding it. The clip then swings back towards the engine. Remove the old bulb, install the new bulb, replace the spring clip, re-connect the socket. (Don't touch the bulb, if you do clean it off with a lint free cloth and alcohol). To replace the lower bulb (parking light), remove the socket, then release the lower end of the spring clip, look closely and you'll see the latch holding it. You have to press it towards the front of the car and swing it towards the passenger side. It will swing up and release the bulb. Replace with new bulb, replace spring clip, connect socket. Don't forget to replace the plastic cover panel by inserting the bottom tabs into the sockets and snapping it closed at the top by pressing it towards the front of the car.
